The Rural Learning Centre (RLC) is a specialised property and facility owned and operated by Holmesglen. Located two hours north east of Melbourne in Eildon, the property is located in some of Victoria’s most beautiful natural landscapes.
Holmesglen utilises the Rural Learning Centre as a camp location for student groups. If you study at the Vocational College, or you are studying outdoor recreation or events, undertaking a camp at the Rural Learning Centre makes for a unique experience and benefit to studying at Holmesglen.
The Rural Learning Centre and surrounding area presents a huge array of opportunities for recreation and getting in touch with nature. You may get to take part in fun and interesting outdoor recreation programs, including:
- Abseiling and rock climbing
- Fishing and yabbying
- Hiking and bush walking
- Horse riding
- Mountain bike riding
- Ropes course
- Sports- swimming, basketball, netball, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, and golf.
With a variety of break out areas and rooms, there is also the opportunity for groups to undertake classes and other activities.
At the end of the day, you can stay in the modern, spacious quad rooms, which feature four single beds all separated by a wardrobe to make co-habitation a breeze.
Another feature of the Rural Learning Centre is the contribution that Holmesglen students have had during its development. For example, all the furniture in the accommodation rooms including beds, desks and side tables were constructed by students. The rooms are decorated with photographic artworks taken by graphic arts students, and construction of the outdoor recreation shed was completely by carpentry students.
