Passion for Food. Flair for people.The Centre for Hospitality, Cookery & Bakery at Holmesglen offers courses in hotel management, food and beverage, sommelier, housekeeping, bakery, patisserie and cookery programs including traineeships and apprenticeships.
Our highly trained and passionate staff arrange work placement roles for students in all study areas. Opportunities for work placement exist with over 200 training partners including: Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt Melbourne, Hilton on the Park, Langham Melbourne, Atlantic Group Central Pier, Crown Hotels and Conference Venues, Bakers Delight, Brumbys, La Parisienne Bakery and Patisserie, Australian Leisure & Hospitality Group (ALH).
Our strong involvement with industry in cooking competitions such as the Lifestyle FOOD Channel Australian Regional Culinary Competition gives students the chance to shine under pressure and achieve their best. You too could be the National cookery Apprentice of the Year like apprentice graduate Bronwyn O'Grady or be crowned AUS-TAFE National Cookery apprentice of the year like second year apprentice Colin Wilson. Several students have also followed their dream and worked overseas at Mugaritz in Spain (voted one of the top 5 restaurants in the world) or work in the Sheraton Grand Laguna Resort Phuket (Thailand)
Industry events – Holmesglen students are given the opportunity to participate in major events such as the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, Langham Master Class and the Good Food Show working with Australian and overseas celebrity chefs including Guy Grossi, Neil Perry, Curtis Stone, Peter Evans and Nigella Lawson.

Student Training Restaurants at Holmesglen
Holmesglen operates two training restaurants, offering casual and fine dining at very reasonable prices:
The Centre's support of sustainable practices, food producers and regional tourism within Victoria assisted Holmesglen win the Tourism Education and Training category at the Melbourne Airport 2008, 2009 and 2010 Victorian Tourism Awards elevating them into the hall of fame.
Hospitality, Cookery and Bakery is proud of its practical approach to teaching, allowing students to take away work ready skills by undertaking real-life projects as part of their study.
