Overview
This qualification provides students with the practical skills and knowledge to produce art in a range of areas, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography and drawing. Students will develop skills via investigation and experimentation of techniques and materials, research and observation.
Theory subjects in history, drawing and the design process underpin learning and development. The course is ideal for students wishing to enhance their folio for application to further study.
Qualification & Recognition
On successful completion of this course students are eligible to receive the nationally endorsed Certificate IV in Visual Arts and Contemporary Craft.
Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer
Students may be able to shorten the length of their chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQTF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
Course Fees
Fees are calculated according to the level of course being studied, and the number of hours being undertaken, up to Government established maximums. Eligible students are able to access a Government Subsidised Place and certain categories of Full Fee Paying students may be able to access an Eligibility Exemption. Assistance is available in the form of VET FEE HELP or a Holmesglen Payment Plan for students who are unable to afford fee payment up front. Assessment may be a combination of written and online assignments, tests, examinations and practical application projects.

Graduates of this course can pursue studies in diploma and higher education art and design courses or work in art related fields.
Graduates may apply to articulate directly into diploma level study in fields of visual arts and graphic design. They will also have developed a folio which may be used in applications for further study at other institutions and universities.
