  • Full-time: 20 weeks at 20 hours per week
  • Part-time: 40 weeks at 10 hours per week
Prerequisites:
  • People from a non-English speaking background who are over 18
  • People who are motivated and have the ability to learn as assessed at an initial interview

Overview

The language programs at Holmesglen, deliver training to individuals for whom English is a Second Language (ESL), giving practice in listening, speaking, reading and writing as well as help with grammar and pronunciation. This course aims to provide English language skills to students from non-English speaking backgrounds, at an intermediate level.

Qualification & Recognition

After successfully completing a level, students will receive the Certificate III in Spoken and Written English in Community Access.

Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer

Students may be able to shorten the length of their chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQTF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.

Course Fees

Fees are calculated according to the level of course being studied, and the number of hours being undertaken, up to Government established maximums. Certain categories of students may be eligible for a Government Subsidised Place. Assistance is available for those who are unable to afford fee payment up front.

Assessment

Assessment may be a combination of written and online assignments, tests, examinations and practical application projects.
