| Prerequisites: | It is preferrable that applicants hold an overseas qualification that is Australian equivalency recognised, or be in the process of recognition. Applicants need to have had their qualifications approved by the Overseas Qualifications Unit prior to commencing the course. They will also be required to undertake an English language proficiency test. |
Overview
This course is primarily designed for overseas qualified and experienced primary and secondary teachers, who are eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. Teachers who possess the required qualifications to work in Australia, but have little or no experience in the Australian education system. This course, which includes a practical placement component, will facilitate the transition to employment within an Australian educational institution. A five-week practical placement is a key component of this course. This course is available at Melbourne City and Moorabbin.

Qualification & Recognition
Upon successful completion of this course, students are eligible to receive the Certificate IV in ESL (Employment), with a specific focus on English for teaching.
Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer
Students may be able to shorten the length of their chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQTF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
Course Fees
Fees are calculated according to the level of course being studied, and the number of hours being undertaken, up to Government established maximums. Eligible students are able to access a Government Subsidised Place and certain categories of Full Fee Paying students may be able to access an Eligibility Exemption. Assistance is available in the form of VET FEE HELP or a Holmesglen Payment Plan for students who are unable to afford fee payment up front.
