Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

This qualification enables you to plan experiences and provide education and care to children, facilitating their leisure and play and enabling you to foster children's development.

Graduates may work under direct supervision and, in some settings, may also have limited supervisory responsibilities of volunteers. You are required to have an understanding of a range of cultures and work with local communities in the provision of services.

Attendance

On campus delivery is available at the City, Moorabbin and Waverley campuses.

Course length and attendance
Full time: 6 months. You must attend four days per week. Some evening and weekend study may be scheduled over the duration of the course.

Practicum Placement
Placements of between 2 and 5 days per week will be scheduled with each of the relevant age groups of children throughout the duration of the course.

Assessment

Assessment is based on the demonstration on specific knowledge and skills, and a combination of observation, discussion, written assignments, tests, and/or practical application and work related projects, including those undertaken through practicum placement.

  • Minimum 16 years of age

Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer

You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQTF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.

Fees

This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding to eligible students.

Fees are calculated according to the level of course being studied, and the number of hours being undertaken, up to Government established maximums. Eligible students are able to access a Government Subsidised Place and certain categories of Full Fee Paying students may be able to access an Eligibility Exemption. Assistance is available in the form of VET FEE HELP or a Holmesglen Payment Plan for students who are unable to afford fee payment up front.
