Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery)
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for you to be competent as a qualified cook, and is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway. Work would be undertaken in various hospitality enterprises where food is prepared and served, including restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafes, cafeterias and coffee shops. You may also have some responsibility for others and provide technical advice and support to a team.

If you have training in cookery already, you may pursue employment in areas where food preparation is a key focus. Typically, cookery opportunities are found within a range of businesses, including restaurants, hospitals, hotels, clubs, motels, pubs, cafes, retirement villages and aged care centres.
Assessment may be a combination of written and online assignments, tests, examinations and practical application projects. Assessment is also available in the workplace for students currently employed in industry.
On enrolment at Holmesglen the employer, the apprentice and Holmesglen must complete a training program. This must be done within three months of the apprentice commencing employment. Training agreement forms are available from the AAB, Apprenticeship Administration Branch, Telephone: 1300 722 603. The forms are also available from the nearest Australian Apprenticeship Centre.
Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer
You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQTF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.

How to Apply
A training contract must be completed by the employer and apprentice within the first two weeks of employment. An Australian Apprenticeship Centre (AAC) representative will visit the workplace to complete the training contract with the employer and the apprentice. Apply directly to Holmesglen if you are a:
- Part time student
- Full time student commencing studies outside of the February intake
- Non year 12 applicant and only applying to Holmesglen

This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding to eligible students.
Fees are calculated according to the level of course being studied, and the number of hours being undertaken, up to Government established maximums. Eligible students are able to access a Government Subsidised Place and certain categories of Full Fee Paying students may be able to access an Eligibility Exemption. Assistance is available in the form of VET FEE HELP or a Holmesglen Payment Plan for students who are unable to afford fee payment up front.

Qualification & Recognition
