    Founded in 2011, this Holmesglen photography course is innovative, contemporary and relevant to the current trends in the photography and digital capture industry. Learn in modern facilities and benefit from a supportive learning environment.

    This course provides practical training with a focus on digital technologies, studio practice and DSLR video production. You will benefit from valuable connections to the photographic industry through internships, practical training and projects with relevant networks.

    Most importantly, our teachers and academics are industry experts who inspire, encourage and support students to create work of exceptional standards both creatively and technically.

    Graduates leave our course highly employable, with many of our students working for fashion festivals, magazines, online retailers and commercial clients.

    The graduation exhibition is passionately supported by key industry bodies, including the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP), Sun Studios and Bond Imaging.

    The course is offered full time during the day. Students can select units to study on a part time basis during the day.

  • Program Structure

    To receive this qualification, you must complete 3 core units and 14 elective units. Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications. If you have already completed other eligible elective units, these may be counted towards completion of this course.

    Assessment

    Assessment may be a combination of written and online assignments, tests, examinations and practical application projects.

  • Requirements

    Recognition of prior learning

    You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.

    Prerequisites

    • VCE or equivalent; or
    • Mature age (at least 18 years of age and away from formal study for at least one year)
    • Previous study in photography is essential, preferably at Certificate IV level

    Selection Process

    You may be required to attend an interview and present a folio.

    After successfully completing this course, you are eligible to receive the nationally endorsed CUA50915 Diploma of Photography & Photo Imaging.

    Which fee applies to me?

    Due to the different level of government subsidy available to you, there are three possible fee levels for program fees – government subsidised, full fee and concession.

    Your eligibility for concession or subsidised program fees is determined by your individual circumstances such as how old you are, what level of education you have and what type of program you want to study. Concession fees are not available for qualifications at diploma level or above.

    The Holmesglen Information staff can help you determine your eligibility and discuss options if you are ineligible.

    How do I pay my fees?

    VET Fee HELP / VET Student Loans is an Australian Government loan scheme that helps eligible students pay all or part of their tuition fees for diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificate and graduate diploma programs.

    Holmesglen also offers a range of scholarships each year which you may be eligible to apply for.

    To be eligible for a VET Fee HELP /  VET Student Loans you will need to meet the VET Student Loans entry requirements.

Visit us on Open Day and meet teachers and students, tour the facilities and participate in a live studio portrait photo shoot. At this Information Session you will be able to ask questions and learn more about what is offered in our Photography courses.
