VCE VET Electrical Industry Program
This is a VET Delivered to Secondary Students course and can be completed as part of your VCE or VCAL program.
The course offers the opportunity to develop competencies for a work entry program providing grounding in safety, and basic skills and knowledge for work in any electrotechnology industry. The course is a pre-vocational electrical program, designed to provide an introduction to the electrical/electronics industries in areas such as air-conditioning, electrical, refrigeration, or instrumentation. It enables you to develop broad based competencies in a range of electrotechnology fields such as lighting, general power, fire protection and security, robotics, instrumentation, optical data and voice systems, electrical motors and control systems. It also enables you to make more informed choices in the selection of vocational career paths, and gain a recognised credential and credits for further training as an apprentice or trainee in the electrotechnology industry.
During this course, you are required to provide overalls, work boots and clear safety glasses.

- When undertaking the course, you must be enrolled as a VCE or VCAL student.
- This course requires at least Year ten mathematical knowledge, and is not recommended if you find mathematics at this level challenging.
Qualification & Recognition
After completing the UEE22011 Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start), you will be eligible for credits towards your VCE: recognition of three units at Units 1 and 2 Level and a Units 3 and 4 sequence.
Students who receive a Units 3 and 4 sequence for VCE VET Electrical Industry will be eligible for an increment towards their ATAR (10% of the average of the primary four scaled studies).
At the completion of this course, you may wish to apply for credit and continue your studies in the UEE30811 Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Electrician) Apprenticeship or the UEE33011 Certificate III in Electrical Fitting Apprenticeship
This course is delivered on Wednesdays, 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm for VCE students.
This course is delivered on Wednesdays, 9 am to 3:30 pm for VCAL students.
Alternative days can be arranged by consultation with the school.
