This is a VET Delivered to Secondary Students (previously VETiS) course and can be completed as part of your VCE or VCAL program.
This course is a pre-vocational electrical course, designed to provide an introduction to the electrical/electronics industries in areas such as air-conditioning, electrical, refrigeration, or instrumentation. It enables you to develop broad based competencies in a range of electrotechnology fields such as lighting, general power, fire protection and security, robotics, instrumentation, optical data and voice systems, electrical motors and control systems. It also enables you to make more informed choices in the selection of vocational career paths and gain a recognised credential and credits for further training as an apprentice or trainee in the electrotechnology industry.
During this course, you are required to provide overalls, work boots and clear safety glasses.
AssessmentAssessment may be a combination of written and online assignments, assessments and practical application projects.

- When undertaking the course, you must be enrolled as a VCE or VCAL student.
- This course requires at least year ten mathematical knowledge, and is not recommended if you find mathematics at this level challenging.
Qualification & Recognition
After completion of the 22261VIC Certificate II in Electrotechnology Studies (Pre-vocational), you will be eligible for five units of credit towards your VCE: three units at Units 1 & 2 Level and a Units 3 & 4 sequence.
Students who receive a Units 3 & 4 sequence for VCE VET Electrical Industry will be eligible for an increment towards their ATAR (10% of the average of the primary four scaled studies).
At the completion of this course, you may wish to continue your studies in the UEE30811 Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Electrician).
You may also apply for credit towards the Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Electrician) course.
This course is delivered on Wednesdays, 8.30 am to 4 pm.
