This course is designed for people needing to disconnect and reconnect equipment associated with their primary trade, vocation or occupation, such as licensed tradespersons or people holding a relevant Certificate III or Refrigeration and Air Conditioning qualification.
The course provides the units of competency necessary to apply to Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) for a Restricted Electrical Worker's Licence - Class 2 (previously named Disconnect/Reconnect Worker's Licence).
The course covers:
Refrigeration and Air-conditioning/Composite Equipment
- Electrical principles
- Testing and measuring devices
- Power cable and conductor termination to Australian standards
- Isolating and supply arrangements
- Electrical safety
- Occupational health and safety
- Safety testing and reporting.
This course is suitable for plumbers working with refrigeration and air-conditioning, and relevant tradespersons working with composite equipment. It provides the knowledge and skills necessary to carry out low voltage electrical installation work relating to equipment that is connected to a fixed electrical installation associated with a primary trade or occupation.
Restricted Electrical Workers Licence training is available for other trade areas/ESV classifications.
AssessmentAssessment may be a combination of written and online assignments, tests, examinations and practical application projects.

Recognition of prior learning
You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.

The Restricted Electrical Workers Licence - Class 2 is applicable to persons employed in a primary work function where there is a need to disconnect/reconnect electrical equipment that is incidental to their primary function.
Before enrolling in the course, it is recommended that you contact Energy Safe Victoria to assess your eligibility for the Restricted Electrical Worker's Licence - Class 2.
Qualification & Recognition
After successfully completing this course, you will be eligible to receive a nationally endorsed Statement of Attainment.
The course provides the units of competency necessary to apply to Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) for a Restricted Electrical Worker's Licence (Class 2).
This course is delivered over six days, with one of those days allocated to conducting ESV Independent Practical Assessments. Your instructor will arrange a specific day and time for you to attend and undertake the assessment (allow approx 1-2 hours). You are also required to complete online study throughout the course.
2017 Semester 2 course dates are:
- October 9, 10, 11, 23, 24 & 25, plus Practical Assessment (TBA)
- November 20, 21, 22, 28 & 29, plus Practical Assessment on November 30 or December 1.

Type Cost Full Fee $945
Payments options are available to assist with repayment of tuition fees. HELP loans, which are a government loan scheme, are available to eligible students. A Student Services and Amenities fee is payable at the time of enrolment. All fee payments must be completed by the Administrative Date and the final date to withdraw without incurring a Loan debt must be completed by the Census Date.
Individual subject tuition fees are available for higher education programs.
