  • Course Overview

    This course is designed for electricians to gain the required skills to design and install stand-alone power systems (off-grid PV). 

    Successful completion of the course meets the Clean Energy Council UEE11 Accreditation pathway and will entitle licensed electricians to apply for Provisional Accreditation for Design and Install Stand-Alone Power Systems with the Clean Energy Council.

  • Course Structure

    This course is delivered by a combination of online self-paced study and practical workshop sessions on campus.

    Online study
    This covers all the theoretical knowledge and assessment required for design and installation of SAPS. You will be provided with a course book, given access to our online learning area, and receive support from the course instructor. The online study requirements must be completed prior to attending the practical workshop sessions.

    Practical workshops
    The workshops are delivered over six full days and includes a review of the online coursework you have completed, to ensure thorough understanding of all design and theoretical knowledge. The workshop covers all practical requirements and assessments for the course, including installation of off-grid PV systems. Attendance at the practical workshops is compulsory for the course.


    Assessment is by self-paced online quizzes and observation of workshop practical activities and off-the-job projects. To achieve successful completion of this course participates will need to attend to all aspects of the program. This includes all the online and practical assessments within the specified time frames.

  • Requirements

    Recognition of prior learning

    You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. Please see Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer for more information.


  • Outcomes

    Qualification & Recognition

    After successful completion of this course you are eligible to receive the nationally endorsed statement of attainment.

    Unrestricted Electrical License holders may apply to the Clean Energy Council (CEC) for Provisional Accreditation for Design and Install Stand-Alone Power Systems. Check the CEC website for further information.

    Course Commencement

    This course requires you to study online and attend a series of on-campus practical workshop sessions, scheduled over the duration of the course.

    2017 course dates:

    • April 10 - May 19
      Practical workshop sessions scheduled on April 26, 27, 28 and May 1, 2 and 3.

    Workshops are held at over six full days at our Moorabbin Campus, 8.30 am - 4 pm each day.
    Attendance at workshop sessions is compulsory.

    *You must successfully complete the online component to be eligible to attend the workshop.
