  • Course Overview

    This course is a Semester Pathway program and can only be completed if you are in secondary school.

    There is a lot more to modern building than wood and bricks, and this course will equip you with skills to pursue a career path in building or in the manufacture of building industry products.

    During the semester, you will learn about sheet metal fabrication and how it relates to building services. You will learn how to make roof gutters, cladding, roof sheeting, box gutters, downpipes, and ducting.

    You will need to wear solid boots or shoes and will require clear safety glasses.

Engineering & Fabrication Open Days

    Do you love work that is physical and technical? Consider a practical career in the fabrication trades and become an expert in welding engineering.

    At Holmesglen, we're all about hands on learning, so our fabrication workshops are equipped with industry standard machinery. Our continued investment in equipment means that you learn on the equipment you will find on the job, so when you finish your studies you are work safe and work ready.

    Visit us on Open Days at 3.00pm and talk to our teachers about a career in Engineering. You will be shown around our workshop and possibly having a try at designing something with our computer controlled plasma machine that you can take home. After the tour our teaching staff will be available to answer any further questions about the courses and the industry.

    You can also come along to find out more about our VET in Schools course, the Certificate II in Engineering Studies. Our experienced teachers will provide you with information on how we can support you to successfully complete units towards your Year 11 and Year 12 studies as well as highlight future study pathways and career opportunities.
