    Which fee applies to me?

    Due to the different level of government subsidy available to you, there are three possible fee levels for program fees – government subsidised, full fee and concession.

    Your eligibility for concession or subsidised program fees is determined by your individual circumstances such as how old you are, what level of education you have and what type of program you want to study. Concession fees are not available for qualifications at diploma level or above.

    The Holmesglen Information staff can help you determine your eligibility and discuss options if you are ineligible.

    How do I pay my fees?

    VET Fee HELP / VET Student Loans is an Australian Government loan scheme that helps eligible students pay all or part of their tuition fees for diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificate and graduate diploma programs.

    Holmesglen also offers a range of scholarships each year which you may be eligible to apply for.

    To be eligible for a VET Fee HELP /  VET Student Loans you will need to meet the VET Student Loans entry requirements.

  • Course Overview

    The Diploma of Engineering - Advanced Trade is an engineering trade course and covers the design, manufacture, modification, maintenance and installation of mechanical equipment and systems using modern metal fabrication (welding) engineering technology. Use of Computer Aided Designsoftware and integrating this technology into the fabrication components is a core part of the program.

    The Certificate III is undertaken in the first year and equips students with the skills of a metal fabricator.

    Students who successfully complete all units in two years will be eligible for both qualifications.

    Assessment may be a combination of written and online assignments, tests, examinations and practical application projects.

    Recognition of prior learning

    Students may be able to shorten the length of their chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. RPL Booklet

    Prerequisites

    Successful completion of Certificate IV in Engineering (Electrotechnology Stream).

    Qualification & Recognition

    Units are factored on a points basis. On completion of the required points the student is awarded the Diploma of Engineering-Advanced Trade.

Engineering & Fabrication Open Days

    Do you love work that is physical and technical? Consider a practical career in the fabrication trades and become an expert in welding engineering.

    At Holmesglen, we're all about hands on learning, so our fabrication workshops are equipped with industry standard machinery. Our continued investment in equipment means that you learn on the equipment you will find on the job, so when you finish your studies you are work safe and work ready.

    Visit us on Open Days at 2.30pm and talk to our teachers about a career in Engineering. You will be shown around our workshop and possibly having a try at designing something with our computer controlled plasma machine that you can take home. After the tour our teaching staff will be available to answer any further questions about the courses and the industry.

    You can also come along to find out more about our VET in Schools course, the Certificate II in Engineering Studies. Our experienced teachers will provide you with information on how we can support you to successfully complete units towards your Year 11 and Year 12 studies as well as highlight future study pathways and career opportunities.
