  • Course Overview

    Business administration courses provide skills and training in a variety of administrative activities, which may be applied to numerous workplace environments. With an emphasis on practical training, this course will benefit you if you are seeking employment opportunities as an administrative officer, medical receptionist or medical administrator in medical centres or hospitals. It is especially suited if you are planning to return to the workforce.

    Part time and full time study options are available and tailored class dates and times will suit busy people along with a supportive learning environment.

    Throughout this course, you will develop a broad range of knowledge and skills in operating office equipment. These include Office 2013 (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Desktop Publishing), creating business documents, managing time effectively, maintaining a general ledger and procedures specific to medical administration such as Medilink, interpreting and applying medical terminology, and preparing and processing medical accounts.

  • Course Structure

    To receive this qualification you must complete 2 core units and 11 elective units. Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications. If you have already completed other eligible elective units, these may be counted towards completion of this course

  • Requirements

    Recognition of prior learning

    You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.

    Prerequisites

    • VCE (ATAR) or equivalent; or
    • Mature age (at least 18 years of age and away from formal study for at least one year)
    • Online students must have their own Microsoft Suite software

  • Outcomes

    Qualification & Recognition

    After successfully completing this course, you will be eligible to receive the nationally endorsed BSB31115 Certificate III in Business Administration (Medical).

    Pathways

    After completion of this course, students can enrol in either the BSB40215 Certificate IV in Business in the (Business Administration stream) or the HLT47315 Certificate IV in Health Administration.

    Which fee applies to me?

    Due to the different level of government subsidy available to you, there are three possible fee levels for program fees – government subsidised, full fee and concession.

    Your eligibility for concession or subsidised program fees is determined by your individual circumstances such as how old you are, what level of education you have and what type of program you want to study. Concession fees are not available for qualifications at diploma level or above.

    How do I pay my fees?

    VET Fee HELP / VET Student Loans is an Australian Government loan scheme that helps eligible students pay all or part of their tuition fees for diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificate and graduate diploma programs.

    Holmesglen also offers a range of scholarships each year which you may be eligible to apply for.

    To be eligible for a VET Fee HELP /  VET Student Loans you will need to meet the VET Student Loans entry requirements.

    Good passes at Year 11 level or the overseas equivalent or relevant senior employment experience,

    English language proficiency of IELTS 5.5, ISLPR 2+, TOEFL 197 (CB) or 46 (iBT), PTE Academic Score of 42 (no communicative skill score less than 42), Cambridge English: Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) of 47 or equivalent.

    This course is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. Upon completion of this program, Graduates will be qualified to pursue employment opportunities within medical administration or reception.

    Career Opportunities

    This course is designed to give Graduates a competitive edge in the health administration industry. Students will be equipped with the skills necessary to pursue a range of administration and receptionist roles within the health and medical services industries.

    Certificate III in Business Administration (Medical) articulates directly into the Certificate IV in Business Administration, and then the Diploma of Business Administration. For students aspiring to degree level studies and senior personal assistant positions. Holmesglen has developed the Bachelor of Business (Executive Administration).

    Graduates of administration studies at the Diploma level will receive up to eight credits (12 months) towards the 3 year full-time Degree program. Students who have completed Diploma level studies at Holmesglen, will also have the opportunity to articulate directly into the Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and can receive credits for units previously completed.
