  • Course Overview

Please note: The HLT50512 Diploma of Dental Technology  has been superseded by a newly endorsed qualification that Holmesglen plan to start delivering mid 2016. For more information or to register your interest for this program please contact the department.

This two year hands on course will provide you with the skills for a career as a dental technician. You will learn to design, manufacture, modify and repair prostheses and appliances such as dentures, mouth-guards, bridges and crowns. A dental technician may work in a large dental laboratory or go into private practice.

Your training is undertaken in purpose built, state-of-the-art facilities at Holmesglen, designed to simulate the workplace environment. The teaching staff are all qualified dental technicians or dental prosthetists. Each student has their own workstation where you are able to utilise highly technical equipment to create dental appliances. Safety is always of paramount importance in the laboratory.

This program also includes important employability skills such as communication, first aid, infection control, work, health and safety processes (WHS), and business management skills; which are particularly important if you plan to go into private practice.

  • Course Structure

To receive this qualification you must complete 22 core units and 5 elective units. Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications. If you have already completed other eligible elective units, these may be counted towards completion of this program.
