This course is an intermediate to advanced level English course designed to provide immigrant and international students with a range of skills and knowledge areas needed to undertake a course of study in the health field.
You will also gain cultural knowledge and an introductory understanding of the Australian healthcare system.
AssessmentAssessment may be a combination of written and online assignments, tests, examinations and practical application projects.

Recognition of prior learning
You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.

- A non-English speaking background and over 18 years old
- English language skills at a minimum Level 2+ on the International Second Language Proficiency Rating Scale
- English language proficiency test
- Completion of Year 11 or higher in country of origin
Qualification & Recognition
After successfully completing the course, you will be eligible to receive the nationally endorsed 22258VIC Certificate IV in English as an Additional Language (Further Study).
Graduates of the April and October courses will complete the skill set part only, and receive a statement of attainment.
After successfully completing this course, you can apply to progress your studies across a range of certificate, diploma and degree courses offered by Holmesglen.
- Further studies can lead to a career in the health field
- February and July: Graduates of these intakes will be eligible to receive the 22258VIC Certificate IV in EAL (Further Study for Nursing & Health Sciences)
- April and October: Graduates of these intakes will be eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment for partial course completion
- Full time attendance (February and July courses) involves 20 hours of classes per week, over 20 weeks
- The April and October courses are delivered over 10 weeks

Which fee applies to me?
Due to the different level of government subsidy available to you, there are three possible fee levels for program fees – government subsidised, full fee and concession.
Your eligibility for concession or subsidised program fees is determined by your individual circumstances such as how old you are, what level of education you have and what type of program you want to study. Concession fees are not available for qualifications at diploma level or above.

How do I pay my fees?
VET Fee HELP / VET Student Loans is an Australian Government loan scheme that helps eligible students pay all or part of their tuition fees for diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificate and graduate diploma programs.
Holmesglen also offers a range of scholarships each year which you may be eligible to apply for.
