  • Program Overview

This course covers the nursing skills and knowledge you require to be eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as an enrolled nurse, providing preparation for nursing practice that is client focused and holistic. The Holmesglen Diploma of Nursing allows you the time to develop your skills and build confidence in your knowledge. You will learn in our Simulated Hospital Environment and Immersive Learning Centre. We have industry current nursing staff who will support you through the course.

Learn through a combination of on campus theory, simulation activities in the nursing environment and supported clinical placements in a variety of clinical settings. The range of clinical placements reflects the diverse opportunities for employment for enrolled nurses in the health workforce, which may include aged care, rehabilitation, sub-acute and acute settings.

Before undertaking a clinical placement, you must be prepared to declare your health and immunisation status, complete a National Police Records Check annually and hold a valid Working with Children Check. Holmesglen will register all students with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Program Structure

To receive this qualification you must complete 20 core units and 5 elective units. Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications. If you have already completed other eligible elective units, these may be counted towards completion of this course.

Students undertaking the HLT54115 Diploma of Nursing will be required to successfully complete all units in the course and undertake 400 hours of clinical placement.

    Assessment

Assessment may be a combination of written and online assignments, tests, examinations and practical application projects. Final assessment also includes satisfactory completion of clinical placement.
