Holmesglen is excited to announce its collaborative partnership with prominent healthcare provider, St. Vincent's Private Hospital Melbourne

Holmesglen Partner with St.Vincent's Private Hospital Melbourne

Holmesglen Institute and St. Vincent's Private Hospital Melbourne have partnered to establish Australia's first 'Clinical School' for enrolled nurses.

On Tuesday 17 May the Clinical School was officially opened by Ian Grisold, CEO St. Vincent's Private Hospital Melbourne and Mary Faraone, CE Holmesglen Institute and was blessed by Father Aurelio Frangapane.

Partnerships such as these are common in Australia, but are generally between universities and large healthcare providers, however this is a new innovation in the vocational training sector.

St. Vincent's Private Hospital chose Holmesglen as they were impressed with the emphasis that it placed on clinical placements, our training facilities, the clinical support given to students and the depth and breadth of the curriculum on offer.

"This is an exceptionally exciting collaboration where we will not only be enriching the students' lives, but also the lives of the patients they care for", St. Vincent's Private Hospital CEO, Mr Ian Grisold said at the launch.

Six Holmesglen students were given a place in the Clinical School, which will see them become a part of the St. Vincent's Private Hospital team and undertake a majority of their placements there. The inaugural group were presented with their name badges at the opening and will begin their placement in June. Additional students will join the clinical school each semester.

This partnership not only offers students brilliant placement opportunities, it will allow Holmesglen staff to keep up to date with current practices and will also allow the staff at St. Vincent's to benefit from professional development and teaching opportunities that have been created as a result of the collaboration.

"This Clinical School is a great model of industry and education working together. It is about embracing the synergies between our two organisations and harnessing these across a range of initiatives that will support the strategic intent of our organisations. We hope it will form an example that others want to follow", Holmesglen CE, Ms Mary Faraone commented at the launch.
