    Our fully flexible online course delivers the skills you need to design and develop rich, engaging websites and web applications that look beautiful on both desktop and mobile devices. This course will provide you with a strong set of foundation skills that will assist you to succeeding in a career in the web development industry.

    Whilst undertaking this Certificate, you will be trained to use a variety of technologies to rapidly prototype and develop websites including; HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, JavaScript, Bootstrap, PHP, MySQL, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Wordpress. You will learn to create richer, accessible sites, fast and efficiently. Skills learnt in Bootstrap will help you design and develop responsive, accessible, and mobile-ready websites. Facilitation in WordPress will focus on teaching you how to get the most out of using this industry standard software. You will learn to create and publish posts and pages; customise your site with themes, widgets, custom menus; and learn how to extend WordPress even further with plugins. This will open up the door for you to create a whole range of web solutions for clients including online stores, social platforms and much much more. Additionally, you will learn how to secure your sites to keep them safe and secure.

    By the end of the course, you will have acquired the knowledge to understand and utilise modern web technologies to build compelling web designs with a modern user experience.

  • Course Structure

    To receive this qualification you must complete 8 core units and 14 elective units. Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications. If you have already completed other eligible elective units, these may be counted towards completion of this program.

    During the course you will be involved in:

    Assessment may be a combination of written and online assignments, tests, examinations and practical application projects.

  • Requirements

    Recognition of prior learning

    You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.     Upon successful completion of this course, you will be eligible to receive the nationally endorsed ICT40315 Certificate IV in Web-Based Technologies.


    After successful completion of this course, you may apply to study the ICT50615 Diploma of Website Development.

    After successful completion of the Diploma, you may articulate into a variety of related bachelor degrees offered at university level.

    Which fee applies to me?

    Due to the different level of government subsidy available to you, there are three possible fee levels for program fees – government subsidised, full fee and concession.

    Your eligibility for concession or subsidised program fees is determined by your individual circumstances such as how old you are, what level of education you have and what type of program you want to study. Concession fees are not available for qualifications at diploma level or above.

    How do I pay my fees?

    VET Fee HELP / VET Student Loans is an Australian Government loan scheme that helps eligible students pay all or part of their tuition fees for diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificate and graduate diploma programs.

    Holmesglen also offers a range of scholarships each year which you may be eligible to apply for.

    To be eligible for a VET Fee HELP /  VET Student Loans you will need to meet the VET Student Loans entry requirements.
