    This course is the ideal pathway into the web development industry. Gaining knowledge in cutting edge technology, you will have the opportunity to acquire skills in; web design and development, content management systems, mobile first responsive web design, user interface design (UI) and user experience design (UX).Additionally, you will learn Google Analytics to track, analyse and report website data.

    Whilst undertaking this Certificate you will be trained to use a variety of technologies to rapidly prototype and develop websites including; HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, JavaScript, Bootstrap, PHP, MySQL, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Wordpress. You will learn to create richer, accessible sites, fast and efficiently. Skills learnt in Bootstrap will help you design and develop responsive, accessible, and mobile-ready websites. Facilitation in WordPress will focus on teaching you how to get the most out of using this industry standard software. You will learn to create and publish posts and pages; customise your site with themes, widgets, custom menus and learn how to extend WordPress even further with plugins. This will open up the door for you to create a whole range of web solutions for clients including online stores, social platforms and much much more. Additionally, you will learn how to secure your sites to keep them safe and secure.

    This course is a practical, industry-based course that will provide you with a firm foundation to step into the workforce or continue with further education in the web development field.

    To receive this qualification you must complete 8 core units and 14 elective units. Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications. If you have already completed other eligible elective units, these may be counted towards completion of this program.

    Assessment may be a combination of written and online assignments, tests, examinations and practical application projects.

    Recognition of prior learning

    You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.

    • VCE or equivalent; or
    • Mature age (at least 18 years of age and away from formal study for at least one year).

    After successfully completing this course, you will be eligible to receive the nationally endorsed ICT40315 Certificate IV in Web-Based Technologies.

    Pathways

    After graduating from this program, you will be eligible to complete a further one year of study to achieve the ICT50615 Diploma of Website Development.

    After successful completion of the diploma, you may articulate into a variety of related bachelor degrees offered at university level.

    Which fee applies to me?

    Due to the different level of government subsidy available to you, there are three possible fee levels for program fees – government subsidised, full fee and concession.

    Your eligibility for concession or subsidised program fees is determined by your individual circumstances such as how old you are, what level of education you have and what type of program you want to study. Concession fees are not available for qualifications at diploma level or above.

    The Holmesglen Information staff can help you determine your eligibility and discuss options if you are ineligible.

    How do I pay my fees?

    VET Fee HELP / VET Student Loans is an Australian Government loan scheme that helps eligible students pay all or part of their tuition fees for diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificate and graduate diploma programs.

    Holmesglen also offers a range of scholarships each year which you may be eligible to apply for.

    To be eligible for a VET Fee HELP /  VET Student Loans you will need to meet the VET Student Loans entry requirements.

    • Good passes at Year 11 level including a pass in Mathematics; or the overseas equivalent plus relevant work experience;AndEnglish language proficiency of IELTS 5.5 (Academic), ISLPR 2+, TOEFL 197 (CB) or 46 (iBT), PTE Academic Score of 42 (no communicative skill score less than 42), Cambridge English: Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) of 47 or equivalent.
