  • Program Overview

    This course enables you to plan and implement appropriate care and educational experiences for young children. Through the combination of face-to-face, online and practicum based learning, you will acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to work effectively as a professional team member in an early childhood service in a culturally diverse environment.

    These skills include gaining an understanding of legal and ethical requirements, engaging with young children and their families, facilitating children's leisure and play, and fostering holistic development and wellbeing.

    Graduates may work under direct supervision and may also have limited supervisory responsibilities of volunteers.

  • Program Structure

    To receive this qualification, you must complete 15 core units and 3 elective units. Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications. If you have already completed other eligible elective units, these may be counted towards completion of this program.

    Assessment

    Assessment is based on the demonstration of specific knowledge and skills, and a combination of observation, discussion, written assignments, tests, and/or practical application and work related projects, including those undertaken through practicum placement.

    Recognition of prior learning

    You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.

    After successfully completing this course, you will be eligible to receive a nationally endorsed CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.

    Pathways

    If you are wanting to further your studies in early childhood education, you may do so in the CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care and the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education.

  • Dates

    Attendance

    The full-time course is delivered over one semester, up to five days per week, and includes practicum placement. The placements will be scheduled with each of the relevant age groups of children throughout the duration of the course.

    The part-time course is delivered over nine months on Wednesday evenings and Saturdays at the Waverley campus. Practicum placement will be scheduled flexibly at various times with each age group of children throughout the duration of the course.

    Which fee applies to me?

    Due to the different level of government subsidy available to you, there are three possible fee levels for program fees – government subsidised, full fee and concession.

    Your eligibility for concession or subsidised program fees is determined by your individual circumstances such as how old you are, what level of education you have and what type of program you want to study. Concession fees are not available for qualifications at diploma level or above.

    The Holmesglen Information staff can help you determine your eligibility and discuss options if you are ineligible.

    How do I pay my fees?

    VET Fee HELP / VET Student Loans is an Australian Government loan scheme that helps eligible students pay all or part of their tuition fees for diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificate and graduate diploma programs.

    Holmesglen also offers a range of scholarships each year which you may be eligible to apply for.

    To be eligible for a VET Fee HELP /  VET Student Loans you will need to meet the VET Student Loans entry requirements.

    • Good passes at Year 11 level or the overseas equivalent;
    • English language proficiency of IELTS 5.5 (with no individual bandscore less than 5.5), ISLPR 2+, TOEFL 197 (CB) or 46 (iBT), PTE Academic Score of 42 (no communicative skill score less than 42), Cambridge English: Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) of 47 or equivalent

This presentation will be followed by a tour of the facilities and course specific group discussions. All students wishing to apply for one of our courses are required to also attend an interview, which you can book and undertake at the end of the evening! Plus, any students wishing to just apply on the night will be directed to a staffed application room to step you through this.
