  • Program Overview

    This course can help you become a respected health professional assisting people with their musculoskeletal pain, soft tissue dysfunction and discomfort.

    In the course, you will learn how to deliver a remedial massage treatment that seeks out the source of a client's pain and discomfort. You will use a variety of remedial massage skills based on a comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and specific musculoskeletal assessment and techniques.

    You will have the opportunity to strengthen and further develop your skills by completing practical experience within our supervised student Wellness Clinic located on the Waverley campus. The clients in the clinic are drawn from Holmesglen students, staff and members of the general public. You may also have the opportunity to work with elite level sporting clubs.

  • Program Structure

    To receive this qualification you must complete 16 core units and 5 elective units. Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications. If you have already completed other eligible elective units, these may be counted towards completion of this program.

    Assessment

    Assessment may be a combination of written and online assignments, tests, examinations and practical application assessments.

    Recognition of prior learning

    You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.

    • A desire to further progress your massage therapy career
    • A desire and interest in the natural/complementary therapies
    • A mature attitude and approach to study

    Qualification & Recognition

    After successfully completing this course, you will be eligible to receive the nationally endorsed HLT52015 Diploma of Remedial Massage.

    Pathways

    After successful completion of the course, you may wish to articulate into further studies such as myotherapy or a physiotherapy qualification at another institute.

    Which fee applies to me?

    Due to the different level of government subsidy available to you, there are three possible fee levels for program fees – government subsidised, full fee and concession.

    Your eligibility for concession or subsidised program fees is determined by your individual circumstances such as how old you are, what level of education you have and what type of program you want to study. Concession fees are not available for qualifications at diploma level or above.

    The Holmesglen Information staff can help you determine your eligibility and discuss options if you are ineligible.

    How do I pay my fees?

    VET Fee HELP / VET Student Loans is an Australian Government loan scheme that helps eligible students pay all or part of their tuition fees for diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificate and graduate diploma programs.

    Holmesglen also offers a range of scholarships each year which you may be eligible to apply for.

    To be eligible for a VET Fee HELP /  VET Student Loans you will need to meet the VET Student Loans entry requirements.

    Prerequisites

    Good passes at Year 11 level or the overseas equivalent and preferably some relevant work experience.

    English language proficiency level of IELTS 5.5 (Academic), IELTS 2+, TOEFL 197 (CB) or 46(iBT), PTE Academic Score of 42 (no communicative skill score less than 42), Cambridge English: Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) of 47or equivalent.
