Student academic support
Student academic support is available through academic skills workshops delivered by the Academic Skills Unit (ASU) and online through the Studyskills program. Student Services also provide a variety of support mechanisms for students.
The Academic Skills Unit (ASU) is the Holmesglen study support centre and assists higher education students with a range of academic and study skills.
The Learning Commons online 'Studyskills' provides tutorials covering a range of study skills including:
- helping you get started on, and to plan, assignments.
- tips and tricks for student required skills such as essay writing, note taking and proof-reading
The Learning Commons website also has research tools to assist student research and referencing.
Student Services help students achieve their educational and personal goals by providing appropriate resources and support to help students make the most of their student experience.
Student at Risk
Holmesglen recognises the value of reliably and efficiently monitoring the progress of students in their studies and is committed to the early identification of students who are making poor or unsatisfactory progress and may be at risk of failure, including identifying and excluding students who continue to make unsatisfactory progress.
Students may be offered additional support to facilitate successful completion of study. Support may include but is not limited to:
- Academic counselling
- Student Services for personal counselling
- Academic Skills Unit
- Assistance from relevant staff
- Referral to bridging and other support programs.
