Holmesglen recognises the access and equity rights of staff and students and expects all staff within the Holmesglen community to also recognise these rights and abide by the regulations associated with these rights.

Academic staff responsibilities

Academic staff are responsible for:

  • planning and delivering programs to maximise student learning while accommodating individual learning needs
  • maintaining awareness of current developments in their own and related disciplines and incorporating this knowledge into their teaching
  • providing timely and constructive feedback to enhance students' learning experience
  • identifying and providing early intervention for students who are at risk in terms of their academic progress
  • undertaking professional development, including scholarly activity
  • being readily available to provide academic assistance to students
  • delivering programs to ensure the student achievement of professional competencies and program objectives as prescribed in the curriculum
  • aligning teaching and learning with the achievement of graduate attributes
  • creating an appropriate learning environment for higher education programs
  • observing all quality assurance processes including delivery requirements, assessment, moderation, evaluation and review
  • ensuring that students are aware of their responsibilities in relation to their participation in higher education programs at Holmesglen.

Academic staff are expected to comply with the institute's Rule for Code of Conduct and the Professional Standards for Teachers.
