Cooking is more than a routine; it's a lifestyle. A Holmesglen cookery course pairs this passion with the necessary skills needed to work in an industry that will never go out of flavour.
Our restaurants – Zest and Cilantro – let you experience what it's like to work in a real kitchen, creating fine food amidst the delicious smells, flame and sounds of a busy kitchen.
We understand that great cooking is the difference between eating and dining. Melbournians appreciate that breakfast, lunch and dinner are all the most important meals of the day (and we are most certainly brunch aficionados, too). Holmesglen's open to the public, student training restaurants at both our Waverley and Moorabbin campuses let you serve members of the public under real-life situations, while you learn all the key tools of the trade.
Equally, we also give you opportunities to participate in events such as the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival and to work in top end restaurants including Nobu, Taxi and The Point. These experiences build up your skills and strengthen your resume while studying.
Previous graduates have gone on to win Australian Apprentice of the Year, National Cookery Apprentice of the Year, VIC TAFE Cookery Apprentice of the Year and the Thierry Marx Career Development awards.
Just remember, food is made to be enjoyed and it all starts with those who prepare the meals.
