  • Program Overview

    This program provides you with the professional skills and competencies needed for building inspection work, and for surveying related to residential, industrial and commercial buildings. The program will provide a diverse range of experiences in building theory, regulatory laws and practice, and will equip you with the competencies required for building surveying and inspection.

    You will be required to attend site visits and study tours as part of their program. The program is based on the national training framework and is therefore fully portable allowing you to commence studies in one state, and complete them in another.

    Innovative projects like The Alternative Pathways project provides a cadetship training program for the Advanced Diploma of Building Surveying.

    This course is offered as a combination of face to face classes and students located in the industry with a host employer. 

  • Program Structure

    Students must complete all competencies, and will be progressively recognised for the level of qualification completed.

    Assessment

    Assessment may be a combination of written and online assignments, tests, examinations and practical application projects.

    Recognition of prior learning

    You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQTF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.     Diploma of Building Surveying (CPC50108) or equivalent.

  • Outcomes

    Qualification & Recognition

    Upon successfully completing this program you will be eligible to receive the Advanced Diploma of Building Surveying which is nationally recognised and is supported by the Building Practitioners Board and the Housing Industry Association.

    Pathways

    Graduates may have the opportunity to articulate into Holmesglen's Bachelor of Building Surveying or other university degree programs.

  • Fees

    This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding to eligible students.

    Fees are calculated according to the level of course being studied, and the number of hours being undertaken, up to Government established maximums. Eligible students are able to access a Government Subsidised Place and certain categories of Full Fee Paying students may be able to access an Eligibility Exemption. Assistance is available in the form of VET FEE HELP or a Holmesglen Payment Plan for students who are unable to afford fee payment up front.

    Prerequisites

    Good passes at Year 11 level or overseas equivalent including a pass in Mathematics and preferably some relevant work experience.

    English language proficiency level of IELTS 5.5 (Academic), ISLPR 2+, TOEFL 197 (CB) or 46 (iBT), PTE Academic Score of 42 (no communicative skill score less than 42), Cambridge English: Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) of 47 or equivalent.

  • Outcomes

    Qualification & Recognition

    After completing the first year, students are eligible to receive the Diploma of Building Surveying. After completing the second year, students are eligible to receive the Advanced Diploma of Building Surveying. This Diploma is nationally recognised and is supported by the Building Practitioners Board and the Housing Industry Association.

    Students may be able to shorten the length of their chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work or life experiences, or through qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQTF Qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by any other Registered Training Organisation will be recognised by the Institute.

    Want to make sure buildings that go up, stay up? Building surveyors are often involved in projects from the early planning stages through to completion, and work closely with other allied professionals such as architects, builders, engineers and planners. Together, they ensure these buildings adhere to regulations.

    Visit us on Open Days at 6.15pm for a presentation highlighting pathway options and career outcomes in the Building Surveying industry.

    Following the presentation you will have the opportunity to speak to industry experienced teachers who will give you the information and advise you about each entry stream.

    After the information session, building, construction and surveying staff will be available to answer any further questions you may have.
