  • Program Overview

    Business administration programs provide skills and training in a variety of administrative activities, which may be applied to numerous workplace environments. With an emphasis on practical training, this program will benefit you if you are seeking employment opportunities as an administrative officer, medical receptionist or medical administrator in medical centres or hospitals. It is especially suited if you are planning to return to the workforce.

    A supportive learning environment is available, with part time and full time study options and tailored class dates and times to suit busy people.

    Through this program, you will develop a broad range of knowledge and skills in operating office equipment. These include Office 2010 (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), creating business documents, managing time effectively, maintaining a general ledger and procedures specific to medical administration such as Medilink, interpreting and applying medical terminology and preparing and processing medical accounts.

    Recognition of prior learning

    You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQTF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.     This course is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. Upon completion of this program, graduates will be qualified to pursue employment opportunities within medical administration or reception.

    Pathways

    Upon completion of the Certificate III in Business Administration (medical) students can enrol in either the Certificate IV in Business Administration or the Certificate IV in Health Administration.

  • Fees

    This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding to eligible students.

    Fees are calculated according to the level of course being studied, and the number of hours being undertaken, up to Government established maximums. Eligible students are able to access a Government Subsidised Place and certain categories of Full Fee Paying students may be able to access an Eligibility Exemption. Assistance is available in the form of VET FEE HELP or a Holmesglen Payment Plan for students who are unable to afford fee payment up front.

    Good passes at Year 11 level or the overseas equivalent or relevant senior employment experience,

    English language proficiency of IELTS 5.5, ISLPR 2+, TOEFL 197 (CB) or 46 (iBT), PTE Academic Score of 42 (no communicative skill score less than 42), Cambridge English: Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) of 47 or equivalent.

    Career Opportunities

    This course is designed to give Graduates a competitive edge in the health administration industry. Students will be equipped with the skills necessary to pursue a range of administration and receptionist roles within the health and medical services industries.

    Certificate III in Business Administration (Medical) articulates directly into the Certificate IV in Business Administration, and then the Diploma of Business Administration. For students aspiring to degree level studies and senior personal assistant positions. Holmesglen has developed the Bachelor of Business (Executive Administration).

    Graduates of administration studies at the Diploma level will receive up to eight credits (12 months) towards the 3 year full-time Degree program. Students who have completed Diploma level studies at Holmesglen, will also have the opportunity to articulate directly into the Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and can receive credits for units previously completed.
