  • Program Overview

    This qualification covers the application of nursing skills and knowledge required to be eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as an Enrolled Nurse. This innovative program provides preparation for nursing practice that is client focused and holistic.

    Learn through a combination of on campus theory, simulation activities in a nursing environment and supported clinical placement in a variety of clinical settings. The range of clinical placement reflects the diverse opportunities for employment for Enrolled Nurses in the health workforce.

    Prior to undertaking clinical placement you must be prepared to declare your health and immunisation status, complete a National Police Records Check annually and hold a valid Working with Children Check. Holmesglen will register all students with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Program Structure

    You must successfully complete all units to gain Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled Nursing). You are required to undertake 400 hours of clinical placement and certain units require prerequisite units to be passed before commencement.

    Assessment

    Assessment may be a combination of written and online assignments, tests, examinations and practical application projects.

  • Requirements

    Recognition of prior learning

    You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQTF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.     Prerequisites

    • Language, literacy and numeracy skills to the entry level of Diploma of Nursing.
    • Motivation to practise safely and professionally within the defined Scope of Practice of the Enrolled Nurse.
    • Prior to undertaking clinical placement you must be prepared to declare your health and immunisation status, complete a National Police Records Check annually and hold a valid Working with Children Check.     Advanced Standing

    You may be admitted to the course with advanced standing for units of the qualification which have been completed another registered training organisation. Advanced standing will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Applicants who have successfully completed the Certificate IV in Nursing, or equivalent, are eligible to apply for advanced standing in the Diploma of Nursing.

    Students with a Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice/Community) or equivalent will also be considered for advanced standing. These applicants may also need to attend an interview as part of the selection process.

    Qualification & Recognition

    On successful completion of this course you are eligible to receive the Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled Nursing). A Statement of Attainment, and transcript of the course and results, will be provided upon successful completion.

    Satisfactory completion of this course will allow application to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia for Enrolled Nurse registration. Entry level criteria applies. For further information visit the Nursing Midwifery Board.

    Pathways

    On satisfactory completion of the Diploma of Nursing, students who have maintained a credit average throughout the course can apply for advanced standing as an alternate pathway into the Bachelor of Nursing.

    Mature age refers to applicants who are over the age of 18, who have been away from formal study for at least 12 months. Applicants must complete the direct application form and complete a VETASSESS Test

  • Fees

    This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding to eligible students.

    Fees are calculated according to the level of course being studied, and the number of hours being undertaken, up to Government established maximums. Eligible students are able to access a Government Subsidised Place and certain categories of Full Fee Paying students may be able to access an Eligibility Exemption. Assistance is available in the form of VET FEE HELP or a Holmesglen Payment Plan for students who are unable to afford fee payment up front.

  • Program Overview

    This course will enable students to interact compentently and professionally with other health professionals within acute and non-acute environments.  During the course, students will be exposed to different health care environments, and incorporates theorectical and clinical learning activities.

    Each unit is assessed separately through practical demonstration, assignments, classroom participation, examinations, clinical skills and/or presentations.  All units are co-assessed through completion of supervised clinical placements.  Certain units require pre-requisite units to be passed before commencement.  Students must successfully complete all units to gain Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled Division 2 Nursing).  Students are required to undertake 400 hours of clinical placement.

    Good passes at Year 12/Matriculation level or the overseas equivalent including a pass in Mathematics and preferably some relevant employment experience.

    English language proficiency of IELTS 6.0 (with no individual bandscore less than 6.0) or OET C, ISLPR 3, TOEFL 237 (CB) or 60 (iBT), PTE Academic Score of 50 (no communicative skill score less than 50), Cambridge English: Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) of 52 or equivalent.

    Minimum age requirement: 18 years of age at commencement of course
