  • Program Overview

    This qualification covers the application of nursing skills and knowledge required to be eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as an Enrolled Nurse. This innovative program provides preparation for nursing practice that is client focused and holistic.

    Learn through a combination of on campus theory, simulation activities in a nursing environment and supported clinical placement in a variety of clinical settings. The range of clinical placement reflects the diverse opportunities for employment for Enrolled Nurses in the health workforce.

    Prior to undertaking clinical placement you must be prepared to declare your health and immunisation status, complete a National Police Records Check annually and hold a valid Working with Children Check. Holmesglen will register all students with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Program Structure

    Students undertaking the Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled Nursing) will be required to successfully complete all units within the program and undertake 400 hours of clinical placement.

    Some units require the completion of prerequisite units before commencement.

    Assessment

    Assessment may be a combination of written and online assignments, tests, examinations and practical application projects.

  • Requirements

    Recognition of prior learning

    You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQTF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.     Prerequisites

    • Language, literacy and numeracy skills to the entry level of Diploma of Nursing.
    • Motivation to practise safely and professionally within the defined Scope of Practice of the Enrolled Nurse.
    • Prior to undertaking clinical placement you must be prepared to declare your health and immunisation status, complete a National Police Records Check annually and hold a valid Working with Children Check. Holmesglen will register all students with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
    Advanced Standing

    You may be admitted to the course with advanced standing for units of the qualification which have been completed at another registered training organisation. Advanced standing will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Applicants who have successfully completed the Certificate IV in Nursing, or equivalent, are eligible to apply for advanced standing in the Diploma of Nursing.

    Students with a Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice/Community) or equivalent will also be considered for advanced standing. These applicants may also need to attend an interview as part of the selection process.

    Qualification & Recognition

    Upon successfully completing this program, you will receive the nationally endorsed Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled Nursing) which will allow for registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (Entry level criteria applies).

    Pathways

    On satisfactory completion of the Diploma of Nursing, students who have maintained a credit average throughout the course can apply for advanced standing as an alternate pathway into the Bachelor of Nursing.

    Direct

    Apply directly for:

    February intake - If you are a non-Year 12 student (mature age student) who:

    • Has not applied for another course through VTAC; and 
    • Is intending to submit an application only to Holmesglen. 

    July intake - All applicants may apply direct. 

    All direct applicants must complete a VETASSESS Test and provide a certified copy of their VETASSESS results before attending an interview to be arranged by the department prior to enrolment.

    Which fee applies to me?

    Due to the different level of government subsidy available to you, there are three possible fee levels for program fees – concession, subsidised and full fee.

    Your eligibility for concession or subsidised program fees is determined by your individual circumstances such as how old you are, what level of education you have and what type of program you want to study.

    How do I pay my fees?

    VET Fee HELP is an Australian Government loan scheme that helps eligible students pay all or part of their tuition fees for diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificate and graduate diploma programs.

    Holmesglen also offers a range of scholarships each year which you may be eligible to apply for.

  • Program Overview

    This course will enable students to interact compentently and professionally with other health professionals within acute and non-acute environments.  During the course, students will be exposed to different health care environments, and incorporates theorectical and clinical learning activities.

  • Program Structure

    Each unit is assessed separately through practical demonstration, assignments, classroom participation, examinations, clinical skills and/or presentations.  All units are co-assessed through completion of supervised clinical placements.  Certain units require pre-requisite units to be passed before commencement.  Students must successfully complete all units to gain Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled Division 2 Nursing).  Students are required to undertake 400 hours of clinical placement.

    Prerequisites

    Good passes at Year 12/Matriculation level or the overseas equivalent including a pass in Mathematics and preferably some relevant employment experience.

    English language proficiency of IELTS 6.0 (with no individual bandscore less than 6.0) or OET C, ISLPR 3, TOEFL 237 (CB) or 60 (iBT), PTE Academic Score of 50 (no communicative skill score less than 50), Cambridge English: Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) of 52 or equivalent.

    Minimum age requirement: 18 years of age at commencement of course

    Qualification & Recognition

    Satisfactory completion of this course will allow application to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia for Enrolled Nurse registration.  Entry level criteria applies.

     

    A Statement of Attainment, and transcript of the course and results, will be providd upon successful completion.

    Career Opportunities

    • Enrolled Nurse.
    • Successful completion of the Diploma of Nursing will enable students to apply for entrance to the Bachelor of Nursing.  Credits of up to one year may be granted.
