This qualification enables you to plan and implement appropriate care and educational experiences for young children. Through the combination of face-to-face, online and practicum based learning, you will acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to work effectively as a professional team member in an early childhood service in a culturally diverse environment. These skills will include gaining an understanding of legal and ethical requirements, engaging with young children and their families, facilitating children's leisure and play and fostering holistic development and wellbeing.

Graduates may work under direct supervision and may also have limited supervisory responsibilities of volunteers.

Pre-requisites

  • Good passes at Year 11 level or the overseas equivalent;
  • English language proficiency of IELTS 5.5 (with no individual bandscore less than 5.5), ISLPR 2+, TOEFL 197 (CB) or 46 (iBT), PTE Academic Score of 42 (no communicative skill score less than 42), Cambridge English: Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) of 47 or equivalent
  • Working with Children Check

Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer

Students may be able to shorten the length of their chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQTF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.

How to Apply

International students are required to apply through the International Centre at Holmesglen. Please download an application form and forward it to international.admissions@holmesglen.edu.au together with certified copies of your academic transcripts and the A$500 Application Fee.

Students may also apply through one of Holmesglen's accredited agents overseas, waiving the A$500 Application Fee. Please refer to the separate listing of accredited agents at www.holmesglen.edu.au/international.

Please note that students with citizenship of countries classified by Australia's Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) as Assessment Level 3 (Refer information at http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Stud/Stud ) are required to apply through one of Holmesglen's accredited agents.

Qualification & Recognition

Upon successfully completing this program, you will be eligible to receive a nationally endorsed Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
