    Do you want to make a valuable contribution to the lives of children and young people in education? Are you currently working in, or intend to work in an education support role?

    This course has been designed by experienced educators to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to become a support worker within a range of educational settings. You will learn how to, support students with literacy and  numeracy skills, put into practice support behaviour strategies and apply the principles of inclusion and diversity.

    Successful completion will qualify you as an education support worker in primary and secondary schools, specialist and early childhood settings and community education environments.

    Your learning is complemented by 100 hours of industry placement in an educational workplace throughout the duration of the course.

  • Program Structure

    All subjects in this course feature an online component. You will be supported in developing the skills necessary to undertake online learning.


    Assessment may be a combination of written assignments, online discussion and assessment tasks, observation of your skills in the workplace and work related projects.

  • Requirements

    Recognition of prior learning

    You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.

    Selection Process

    • Pre-enrolment interview including literacy and numeracy assessment.
    • Working with Children Check will be required for industry placement.

    Qualification & Recognition

    Upon successfully completing this course, you will be eligible to receive the nationally endorsed Certificate III in Education Support.


    If you wish to further your studies, you may continue in the Certificate IV in Education Support, Certificate IV in Disability or the Diploma of Education Support.

    Which fee applies to me?

    Due to the different level of government subsidy available to you, there are three possible fee levels for program fees – concession, subsidised and full fee.

    Your eligibility for concession or subsidised program fees is determined by your individual circumstances such as how old you are, what level of education you have and what type of program you want to study.

    How do I pay my fees?

    VET Fee HELP is an Australian Government loan scheme that helps eligible students pay all or part of their tuition fees for diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificate and graduate diploma programs.

    Holmesglen also offers a range of scholarships each year which you may be eligible to apply for.
