  • Program Overview

    This hands-on course, coupled with your workplace experiences, will give you the restaurant experience and skills to become part of this dynamic, fun filled industry. Delivered in Holmesglen's specially designed hospitality training facilities, this program places an emphasis on providing you with practical training wherever possible.

    This qualification provides you with the skills and knowledge to be competent as a qualified chef.

    Further employment could be gained in various enterprises where food is prepared and served including restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafes, cafeterias and coffee shops.

  • Program Structure

    To successfully achieve the Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, you will be required to complete all units.

    Assessment

    Assessment may be a combination of written and online assignments, tests, examinations and practical application projects.
    Assessment is also available in the workplace for students currently employed in industry.

    Recognition of prior learning

    You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQTF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.     Upon successfully completing this program, you will be eligible to receive the nationally endorsed Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery).

    Pathways

    As a graduate of this program you will be well positioned to pursue further training opportunities in other areas of hospitality and cookery, including specialised training in Hospitality, Asian Cookery, Baking, Patisserie or higher management such as Diploma of Hospitality and the Bachelor of Hospitality Management.

    This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding to eligible students.

    Fees are calculated according to the level of course being studied, and the number of hours being undertaken, up to Government established maximums. Eligible students are able to access a Government Subsidised Place and certain categories of Full Fee Paying students may be able to access an Eligibility Exemption. Assistance is available in the form of VET FEE HELP or a Holmesglen Payment Plan for students who are unable to afford fee payment up front.
