Institute Accommodation is available across all three campuses for both male and female students. APPLY NOW!

Holmesglen owns a number of houses in the community. Living in Institute accommodation is a great way to meet and learn about people from other countries whilst sharing the house.


What is included
• Modern, fully furnished houses with 2 to 6 bedrooms
• Every student has their own bedroom
• Gas, electricity, water and local telephone calls
• Kitchen is equipped with an oven, a microwave, a rice-cooker, cooking utensils and crockery
• Central heating
• Internet facilities (via cable)
• Washing machine, dryer, television and DVD
• Outdoor sensor security lighting
• Maintenance of surrounding gardens
• Monthly cleaning of common areas e.g. bathroom, kitchen, lounge and dining areas
• Free airport reception and transport to the accommodation

Student Responsibilities
• Paying rent in advance
• Providing own bed linen
• Purchasing food and cooking meals
• Purchasing cleaning products and personal toiletries, e.g. dish washing detergent, toilet paper, sponges
• Cleaning bedrooms and general tidiness of the house
• Taking out the garbage for collection
• Laundry (washing clothes)
• Students are required to give a minimum of two weeks written notice to vacate
• Return house keys on the date of departure

Additional Information
• Bed linen packages available
Students have an option to purchase a bed linen package from Holmesglen, which is delivered to the accommodation in time for your arrival. Payment is required with the accommodation payment.

The $210 package includes:
• Set of single sheets
• Warm doona/bed quilt and cover
• Pillowcase
• Face Towel
• Pillow
• Extension of stay

Students who wish to extend their stay after the initial period of 10 weeks must notify the International Centre of their intention to extend. Rental must be paid four weeks in advance ($720).

Homestay Accommodation


Suitable for students studying at all campuses

For many students who are away from home for the first time, this choice of accommodation provides a good way to learn about the Australian lifestyle and customs while living in a family environment. A homestay family in Australia can mean many things. It can be a family consisting of a mother, father and children, or a single mother or father with or without children. Australia is a multicultural country - many people from different countries have come here to live and are now Australian citizens. In many Australian families both parents will work and may not be at home when you are. Holmesglen uses the services of an accommodation agency to provide homestays. The Institutes role is limited to facilitating contact between the student and the agency.

How to book

2. Complete a homestay application form listing students individual requirements

4. Upon receipt of the above, a homestay family is then selected and a family profile forwarded to the student. The profile will provide brief information about the family with whom the student has been placed.


Additional Information

• Paying Rent: On your arrival in Melbourne you are required to pay 2 weeks rent ($600) directly to the homestay family
• House Rules: Once you arrive at the homestay family, they will explain to you the rules and customs of the family. You should ask about anything that you are unsure of. Perhaps you need to know when it is convenient to make and receive telephone
calls or if you can invite your friends home. It is important to make sure everything is clear at the beginning.
• Leaving the Homestay: If you wish to move out of a homestay you are required to give two weeks notice in writing to the family.
• Holidays: During Institute approved holidays, if a student is away from home for 3 or more continuous nights, $15 per night is to be deducted from the homestay rent.

 

International House

Suitable for students studying at the Chadstone and Waverley campuses. International House provides fully furnished apartments. The standard of accommodation is excellent. There is a friendly atmosphere where students can make friends whilst maintaining a strong commitment to their studies. Residents come from many countries and English is the common language.

Additional Information

• Parents can stay: Parents (or guardians) are welcome to stay at International House.
There is no charge for the first five days at the start of accommodation period. At other times there is a nominal charge of $25 per person per night to a maximum stay of 10 days
• Airport Reception: Students who wish to be collected from the airport and taken to International House will need to forward $160 payable to Holmesglen Institute and advise Holmesglen of their arrival details.


Unilodge Student Accommodation

Suitable for students studying at all campuses. UniLodge is a successful chain of student accommodation located around Australia and New Zealand with 11 locations strategically placed around Melbourne City.
UniLodge provides safe, secure and friendly student accommodation, with each apartment designed for your academic and social needs. UniLodge also boasts several central and convenient locations with public transport, shops and cafes at your doorstep. Pricing and facilities included may vary from location to location. All fees are paid in advance before arrival to UniLodge. A Bond payment of one month’s rent must also be paid to the RTBA (Residential Tenancies Bond Authority) before moving in.

How To Book

1. Visit www.unilodge.com.au, select your preferred apartment and download the application form. Submit the completed form via email, mail or fax. Once application is approved, UniLodge will contact you regarding confirmation and a confirmation holding fee must be paid.

2. Should the student need to cancel their application, a 28 day notice is required.

Claremont Guesthouse

Suitable for students studying at all campuses.

Claremont Guesthouse offers 3 star student accommodation to university students in Melbourne and is ideally located for students studying at all Holmesglen campuses. Claremont Guesthouse is a tastefully restored 1886 Victorian guest house in South Yarra. Claremont Guesthouse caters for travellers and those seeking budget student accommodation. You will get to meet many other international travellers and students at the 'Claremont'.

Student Housing Australia

Suitable for students studying at the Chadstone and Moorabbin campuses

Student Housing Australia (SHA) is focused and committed to providing suitable affordable accommodation options to meet the continued growth of students choosing Melbourne for their preferred academic endeavours, supporting both the international and local students’ needs.

The Greenhouse Backpacker

Suitable for students studying at all Holmesglen campus

The Greenhouse Backpacker is centrally located in historic Flinders Lane, a heritage precinct in the heart of the cosmopolitan Melbourne. You will be one block from the Town Hall in a bohemian atmosphere, with outdoor restaurants, great ambience and an abundance of interesting shops and arcades.
Staff are on hand 24 hours a day to help with everything from what’s on, to jobs, tour bookings, and much more. They speak a range of languages and are familiar with the needs of travellers, groups and budget holiday-makers. They provide first class, state of the art facilities in a social and fun atmosphere that is very clean and secure.

Privately owned shared accommodation

Suitable for students who have arrived in Australia and studying at any campus

Students who are looking for privately owned accommodation can find rental properties listed with commercial real estate agents. Students who wish to find private rentals will need to apply for a lease; and the lease on a property will be between 3-12 months. This type of accommodation is usually a share house. Students will have their own bedroom and share the kitchen, bathroom and living areas with the other members of the house. Weekly rental costs range from $130 - $250 per person depending on location and the facilities of the house or apartment.

Accommodation for couples and families

Suitable for students studying at all campuses

For students who are wishing to find accommodation as a couple or as a family are encouraged to have a look at the following options;

• UniLodge on Flinders from $343 per week www.unilodge.com.au/Melbourne/Flinders Note: A minimum stay will apply (usually one semester). A bond equivalent to one month’s rent is also required.

Hotel Accommodation


Suitable for students studying at all campuses Holmesglen Institute can arrange short-term hotel accommodation for students. This type of accommodation is suitable for students who wish to arrange their long-term accommodation after they arrive in Melbourne.

Hotels are located near to Holmesglen’s campuses and in the city. Hotels offer both standard/economy rooms with shared bathroom facilities and also superior rooms with ensuite bathroom.


Cost
• Hotel Placement Fee.......$270 (including airport reception)
• Nightly motel/hotel rent From $95 to $140
• All rental payments are payable directly to the hotel.
