Schools
Holmesglen's school programs are delivered in simulated industry environments and taught by industry experienced practitioners who are qualified in both training delivery and their field of expertise. While all programs are customised for secondary school-aged students the curriculum is drawn directly from the certificate or diploma program on which it is based. This enables students to complement their school-based studies with industry relevant training while gaining a head-start on tertiary and employment opportunities.
Holmesglen offers the following school programs for students for enrolment:
- Tasters
- Pathways programs
- VET in Schools
2010 VETiS and Pathways Handbook (including enrolment forms)
Holmesglen programs for school students in years 9, 10, 11 and 12 can provide students with:
- partial or full completion of an accredited program
- greater understanding of the career pathways available upon leaving school
- acquisition of practical skills to complement theoretical knowledge
- exposure to more mature students, which assists in learning to work in an adult environment
- credits gained on successful completion, providing articulation opportunities to further study
- a statement of results for future reference.
In addition, on successful completion of a Holmesglen program for school students an individual may apply for a reduction in the time required to complete the corresponding vocational qualification (eg certificate or diploma).
