About
The College is a learning centre for students aged 16 to 18, offering the Victorian Certificate in Applied Learning (VCAL) as an alternative program to the Victorian Certificate of Education. It provides a hands-on, vocational learning environment that is very different from secondary school.
The College's focus is on educational and social development of students with the aim of preparing them for employment and participation in society through applied learning. The programs are delivered not only within the Vocational College itself but also within the vocational training facilities of Holmesglen and, in addition, through community and workplace learning.
We believe that young people should be provided with programs that offer them the opportunity to experience a broad range of vocational learning areas. This enables them to make well-informed decisions about their future career, based on their own hands-on experience.
We also believe it is of critical importance that all students have strong literacy and numeracy skills to ensure they are well-equipped for their chosen career or further education.
Holmesglen has offered tailored programs to young people for many years including the VCAL programs, which have been running for the past four years. Our success in providing engaging and relevant programs with strong career pathways has led to the Vocational College initiative.
Holmesglen Vocational College is situated on the Moorabbin campus of Holmesglen, easily accessible from Moorabbin train station. The College has its own purpose-built building combined with accessibility to the extensive facilities, expertise and resources at all three campuses of Holmesglen. This ensures the Vocational College offers the very best education facilities.
