The role of Student Services Department is to help students achieve their educational and personal goals by providing appropriate resources and support.
In prescribed circumstances the Department also extends its services to include prospective students, staff and members of the community.
Student Services is committed to providing a timely, relevant and professional range of services delivered by qualified and experienced staff.
Student Services: Privacy Statement and Counselling Confidentiality
Student Services Privacy Statement:
Holmesglen Institute of TAFE and Student Services respects your right to privacy and any personal information provided by you will be held in confidence.
Student Services handles personal and health information in accordance with Holmesglen's Privacy Policy, the Information Privacy Act (2000) and the Health Records Act (2001). In addition, our counsellors operate under the ethical and professional guidelines of their relevant professional associations.
Holmesglen Institute of TAFE's Privacy Policy may be viewed on the Holmesglen website.
Counselling Confidentiality:
Counselling sessions are considered to be confidential, but if the counsellor is concerned about their client's safety or is concerned about the safety of others, then confidentiality may be broken. This is in accordance with ethical and professional guidelines of relevant professional associations.
All confidential records remain the property of Holmesglen Institute of TAFE. Statistical information on counselling sessions is collected by Student Services and aggregated. No identifying information is used with this statistical information.
Email communication can never be regarded as totally secure because of technical limitations. You are advised to take this into consideration if you decide to contact Student Services by email.
Student Services Media Policy
Interviews:
Due to demand on our services and issues of privacy, we regret that Student Services staff members are not available to assist students with their assignments (including being interviewed and completing surveys).
Photography:
Due to privacy concerns, it is not permissible to take photographs and/or make audio or video recordings in the Student Services waiting areas and offices.

Pages from the Student Services website (within Holmesglen TAFE's website) does not collect any personal information from you or use "cookies" of any kind. Some pages may count the total number of times the page has been accessed ("hits"). This process does not record any information about an individual or their computer. Note that the greater Holmesglen website may use "cookies" and other website technologies. No software will be installed on your computer from the Student Services website, including adware or spyware.
