Special Interest Activities
Snap"Special Interest Activities" are a range of activities that are provided for you, and are designed to cater to your ever changing needs and interests as a Holmesglen student. The activities are fun, exciting and allow you to gain a whole new world of experience.
These activities are run according to the level of interest they receive, for example if 30 students want to go on a Swim with the Dolphins day, then that is what we will do! The activities are heavily subsidised, so you will find them extremely affordable on a student budget!
How does it work?
Students simply have to fill out a form, fill in your details and then tick one or a few boxes to indicate what activities you are interested in. You can also suggest an activity, and if other students have similar suggestions or interests to you then we can look into planning that particular activity. Then simply hand it in to one of the Student Services offices at Holmesglen Institute. Students will then be notified either by mail, SMS or email about when the events are coming up. The events will run over the duration of the year, so please be patient as the event that you are interested in may not start till June or July or even later in the year.
How students sign up:
- Go into a Student Services office and fill out a Special Interest Activities form, then return the form to Student Services reception.
- Be patient and wait for notification of the event that you have shown interest in. You will be notified by either by Mail, Email or SMS.
What if you are a group of students and want to go on an activity?
Students are also able to suggest new activities that they would like the recreation unit to run; we are able to run these activities on the levels of interest they receive. Students who initiate the activity are required to get a total of 10 other students names that have agreed to participate in the activity.
Types of Activities that the Recreation Unit can run for students include:
- Swim with the Dolphins day
- Go Karting days
- Movie nights
- Mid Year Balls
- Hip Hop Dancing Sessions
- Theatre nights
- The list goes on and on!!!

The Student Services Recreation Officer's office can be found at the Chadstone campus near the main cafeteria in Building 7 and in Student Services. The Special Interest Activities Officer will also be available at campuses, and can be contacted by phoning Student Services on (03) 9564 2074.
