Skills Reform

What it means for you...

Demand driven training

From 1 July 2009, the Victorian Government guarantees that wherever there is demand from eligible Victorians for accredited training it will subsidise that training or help pay the fees.

New fees

An important change affecting students is the schedule of fees for new enrolments in all courses. Some fees have gone down in price and some fees have gone up.

If you are eligible for a Government Subsidised Place, the Government still pays most of the cost of your course and you will pay some fees as previously, according to the new fee schedule.

If you are not eligible for a Government Subsidised Place, you may still undertake the course of your choice but will have to pay on a fee-for-service basis, which means you pay the full cost for your training.

Support to pay your fees

At Holmesglen there is assistance to help you pay your fees.

VET FEE HELP, a system like HECS at university (find more information at www.deewr.gov.au/vetfeehelp), is available as well as a Payment Plan, where you pay your fees in weekly or monthly instalments.

Eligibility Exemptions

Students aged between 16 and 20 are eligible for a guaranteed Government Subsidised Place. Some Eligiblity Exemptions have now become available for students who wish to undertake a Diploma or Advanced Diploma at Holmesglen. If you have previously been ineligible for a Government Supported Place, due to your age or previous qualifications, speak to us now to see if you might qualify for an Eligibility Exemption (criteria apply).

Current students

If you are already enrolled in a course there will be no changes for you in 2009. You are called a 'fee maintenance' student and will continue to pay fees and charges according to your existing fee schedule until you complete your course or end your enrolment.

New students

Fees will vary depending on your age, any qualification you already have and the course you want to do. You should check the Eligibility Guide.
