This course allows you to complete an Advanced Diploma in just two years, allowing you to move into the workforce quicker or onto a degree course sooner.

Designed to meet the building and construction industry needs, you will develop your building design (architectural) skills in both the residential and commercial areas of the industry. Work in teams reflecting real life work practices responding to real client briefs.

Throughout the course you will acquire the professional skills and knowledge required for sustainable design, drafting and documentation of residential, industrial and commercial buildings. Emphasis is on the design process, construction technology, integration of BIM, presentation and production of working drawings, using industry standards and the latest architectural software.

You will also have access to design studios with high end Mac labs and the latest technical and electronic equipment.

Building design elements will be incorporated in project based learning, and you will have opportunities to develop a variety of skills, including technical and research skills in an environment of self-paced learning, which may include study tours and site visits.

This qualification, together with relevant industry experience, allows you to become a Registered Building Practitioner with the Victorian Building Authority (VBA).

ASSESSMENT

A range of assessment methods for each unit of competency/subject is developed to meet the specific evidence requirements as per the training package/accredited course curriculum.

Assessment tools consist of an assessment matrix, assessment tasks, student and assessor instructions, marking guide, decision making rules, and recording and reporting requirements.

Assessments are conducted throughout the duration of the unit/subject to enable the student time to demonstrate competency.

VCE or equivalent, or mature age (at least 18 years of age and away from formal study for at least one year)

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. Outcomes

QUALIFICATION AND RECOGNITION

After successfully completing this course, you are eligible to receive the nationally endorsed 22268VIC Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural).

This course has been accredited by the Victorian Qualifications Authority and endorsed by industry stakeholders, including the Building Practitioners Board (BPB) and the Building Designers Association of Victoria (BDAV).

PATHWAYS

On completion of the Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural), you will be eligible to enter The Bachelor of Building Surveying or the Bachelor of Construction Management and Economics with up to one year's advanced standing.
