The Certificate III in Business Administration (Medical) will teach you a range of systems and procedures to succeed in a medical administration role. This includes how to maintain patient records, prepare and process medical accounts and write simple documents.

We also teach you medical terminology so you can step into the industry with confidence.

After successfully completing your studies, you’ll be eligible to receive the nationally endorsed BSB31115 Certificate III in Business Administration (Medical).

From there, you can jump right into medical administrative roles – or pursue further study with our BSB40215 Certificate IV in Business or HLT47315 Certificate IV in Health Administration.


In today's fast-paced business environment, there's an ever-increasing need to gain that competitive edge. This course will help you develop your ability to work effectively within an office environment and make decisions on administrative matters.

You will gain knowledge and skills in developing complex business documents including writing and preparing reports, developing and using complex spreadsheets and databases, arranging business travel, promoting products and services and learning how to transcribe from audio.

This course is highly interactive with structured face-to-face workshops, and challenging relevant projects.


This course focuses on practical learning and will provide you with the skills to undertake a range of administrative tasks relevant to the health services.

You will be taught the legal and ethical requirements within the health industry, including how to work with culturally diverse clients and manage patient records.

This course is also suitable if you provide administrative functions in health and medical services where you are required to work autonomously or as a senior member of staff in an administrative team.


This qualification will provide you with managerial level training for clerical and administration staff.

It will help you develop your ability to respond to emerging business opportunities within a clerical and administrative area. You will gain knowledge and skills in key administrative processes and procedures, as well as skills in team and people management.

You will be able to work in both the private and public sector. A practical placement component is provided to full-time day students in partnership with the City of Glen Eira and the City of Monash.

This placement will enable you to put all the skills from the Certificate III in Business Administration (Medical), Certificate IV in Business (in the Business Administration stream) and the Diploma of Business Administration into practice.


With its health industry focus, this course is designed to give you the skills to achieve organisational and business goals, and to implement strategic direction.

You will learn to manage the operations of a health centre or general practice, as well as manage risks, processes and people and apply medical terminology correctly.

The course covers a wide range of topics including providing leadership in effective work practices in health, contributing and managing work, health and safety and implementing and monitoring infection control policies and procedures.

Other topics include managing people performance, and implementing and monitoring compliance with legal and ethical requirements.

Health industry specific topics include managing health billing and accounting systems, interpreting and applying medical terminology, managing risk, human resource management, workplace performance and general management skills.

A practical placement component is provided to day students, which will enable them to put all the skills from the HLT47315 Certificate IV in Health Administration and the HLT57715 Diploma of Practice Management into practice.

This will also give students the opportunity to start networking with possible employers.

The Bachelor of Business Administration will equip you with a thorough understanding of specialised business functions, including business management, economics, finance, technology, marketing, business communications, statistics, law and people management.

The final year includes an applied New Venture Creation project that integrates multiple disciplines and will prepare you to be work-ready.

The range of electives includes public relations, professional sales, international business protocols, buyer behaviour, leadership, compliance and risk management, and customer relationship management.

The course prepares you to explore more specialised areas such as accounting, marketing, international business or human resources.

All Bachelor of Business Administration academic staff have extensive industry experience and higher education teaching experience.
