This program for secondary school students (previously VETiS) can only be completed as part of your VCE or VCAL program.

This course provides you with the skills and knowledge to be competent in introductory game design and development, which will offer you an excellent pathway into the gaming field. Jobs are available across a wide range of game development areas, including game art, game programming, game animation, game testing and technical support.

This two-year program is open to school aged students from Years 10-12. Over the course of the program, you will be able to complete the qualification and have the option of undertaking a Scored VET in VCE.


If you are interested in creating and deploying 3D games to XBox, Playstation, iPhone, iPad, Android, Wii, Wii U, PC and Mac, then this course could be for you. It has been designed from the ground up to take advantage of the latest industry software and development environments, giving you the skills you need to design, create, develop and deploy games to your target platform and app stores.

Essential skills will be employed to give you the ability to create games such as massively multiplayer online games (MMOGs), first-person shooters, racing games, real-time strategy games, third-person shooters, role playing games, side scrollers and more.

You will acquire skills to develop 3D models, understand the pipeline for creating assets for a game engine and discover state-of-the-art techniques to get your assets game-ready.

Facilitation will include techniques that apply to all types of 3D artwork including:
- Character design
- Prop design
- Environment design
- Animation
- Visual effects.

You will learn to navigate the 3D space and manipulate 3D objects, review geometry and modelling, use 3D sculpting software to model and texture 3D game assets, and learn how to apply colour and texture to 3D surfaces.

This course will provide you with real-world experience and knowledge about the game industry, and tips for getting your foot in the door.


The Diploma of Digital and Interactive Games focuses on taking your game design and development skills to the next level. This course teaches you to take your 3D game concepts and make them a reality while developing the skills you need to create interactive, immersive and fun games. Publish your game to your favourite platforms, including Android, iOS, Virtual Reality, PC, Mac and the potential of publishing to consoles like the Xbox and PlayStation.

Taking advantage of the latest industry technologies, you will learn the skills you need to develop games such as multiplayer networked games, first-person shooters, racing games, real-time strategy games, third-person shooters, role playing games, side-scrolling games, mobile games and many more.

You will acquire skills to develop advanced complex 3D models, understand the pipeline for creating 3D assets for game engines and discover state-of-the-art techniques to get your assets game-ready. Facilitation will include techniques that apply to all types of 3D artwork including; advanced character design, prop design, environment design, animation and visual effects.

3D sculpting software will be utilized to model and texture 3D game assets allowing you to create stunning realistic models and textures for 3D games.

You'll learn in the classroom, as well as undertake practical activities supported by supplementary video/screencasts.


Learn to take your 3D game concepts and make them reality when you enrol in this online Diploma of Digital and Interactive Games.

We will guide you through the process of designing and building Escape from Planet X, a third-person adventure shooter.

You will learn essential skills that will give you the ability to create highly interactive and compelling 3D games.

Key study areas include; 3D design, 3D environment design, 3D character design, game design and development, animation, mobile apps, games effects, 3D painting, character animation, games programming, level design, artificial intelligence and more.

Delivery of this course is through practical lessons delivered via video/screencasts. Each video/screencast will provide you with necessary theory and/or practical lessons that can be viewed multiple times and at your own convenience. Face-to-face support is also available to support you through your studies.

Game Design and Development Open Days

 

If you are interested in web development or 3D game development, come to our Open Day where you can choose to undertake either a web development or a 3D modelling/gaming workshop. Use current industry standard software to create and build a responsive website using the most popular front end framework for developing websites. Alternatively you can have a go at creating 3D models and a 3D game. Talk to teachers about your pathway to a creative career and let us give you a taste of these ever-evolving industries, even if you have had no previous experience.
