The Bachelor of Sport Business has been designed to develop students to work in the ever growing and competitive sports industry.

The course has four streams: sport management, commercial sport, sports media, and sport development. This ensures graduates will be able to work in a variety of roles including professional sport, sports leagues, sport consultancy, government sport agencies, sports venues and sports event companies.

The course offers significant internship opportunities where students work in sporting organisations. There is also significant industry engagement: guest speakers, field trips and the 228 hour internship with one of our sports organisation partners.

This degree facilitates real world industry opportunities for students, ensuring they learn more and do more and are prepared to achieve their career goals in the sports industry

The Bachelor of Sports Media has been designed to nurture students that aspire to work in the sports media industry. The course has four streams: sport, media, journalism, and communications. Students will be equipped to work in a variety of roles with sports leagues and clubs, sports media organisations, media organisations and sports agencies.

The course offers significant applied learning opportunities where students function as consultants to sporting organisations developing the skills required by industry. There is significant industry engagement: guest speakers, field trips and a 228 hour internship with one of our industry partners such as Fox Footy, Herald Sun, Melbourne Stars, SEN1116, AFL Victoria, Basketball Victoria and Cricket Victoria.

This degree facilitates real world opportunities for students, ensuring they learn more and do more and are prepared for an exciting sports media career.

The experienced academic staff have extensive industry experience in journalism, marketing, communications, public relations, broadcasting, business and sponsorship. The facilities used for the course include access to a television studio, radio booth and video equipment.

This is a VET Delivered to Secondary Students (previously VETiS) course and can only be completed as part of your VCE or VCAL program.

If you are enthusiastic about being in the outdoors and physically active, then this is the course for you.

Throughout the course, you will gain insight into, and develop a solid background in outdoor instruction, and working for adventure and expedition companies throughout Australia.

This course has an emphasis on practical activities. It will provide experience in canoeing, mountain bike riding, bush-walking, navigation, environmental impact, indoor rock climbing and first aid, as well as teaching the basics of preparation for these activities.

You will also develop knowledge of the outdoor recreation industry and relevant workplace skills, learn about the equipment required for outdoor recreation activities and be able to conduct outdoor sessions.


Kick off your career in the sports industry with Holmesglen, with the Diploma of Sport Development.

This diploma teaches you how to manage meetings, plan and deliver coaching programs and support athletes to adopt principles of sports psychology.

You also have the opportunity to assist with events at the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS), Grand Prix, AFL, A-League, NBL and other sporting events.

To prepare you for a career as a sport coach, administrator, club manager or event manager, you’ll organise swimming and athletic carnivals, and coach various sports and recreational activities.

Upon graduating successfully, you’ll be eligible to receive the nationally endorsed Diploma of Sports Development and the Diploma of Event Management.

Afterwards, you can transfer your credits to the Bachelor of Sport Business or delve into the industry straight away.
