Studying at Holmesglen means gaining practical, hands-on experience in real-world environments, guided by skilled trainers dedicated to your success. In the Certificate II in Salon Assistant program, you’ll learn essential industry skills, from client booking systems and shampooing services to blow-drying and occupational health and safety. Holmesglen emphasises a strong customer-service approach, preparing you to connect with clients confidently and professionally. Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 17 years of age.<p>Candidates must complete:<br>- Pre training review with a trainer or education manager
Prior to enrolment you will be required to complete a pre-training review and may be asked to complete a language, literacy and numeracy test. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Course Structure

Timetable

<strong>Studying full time - four months</strong><br>Students attend Holmesglen two days per week, for six hours per day with the days being both practical and theoretical in nature.<p><strong>Studying part time - 10 months</strong> <br>Students attend Holmesglen two days per week, for three hours per night plus one Saturday per month. Night sessions are both practical and theoretical in nature whilst Saturday sessions are held in our simulated salon where learners apply their newly acquired skills and knowledge.

The General Services Fee (GSF) at Holmesglen is a mandatory annual fee applicable to all students enrolled in Certificate I through Advanced Diploma courses. This fee supports various student services such as counselling, welfare support, and learning assistance provided by our dedicated student support and wellbeing teams. Additional Course Cost

Students will be required to wear appropriate clothing and personal protective equipement (PPE) when undertaking practical activities. The PPE students are required to supply are: <br> <br>* Closed toe, non slip shoes <br>* Functional clothing (no tank tops/exposed midriff/torn jeans) <br> <br>The total cost of these items is approximately $150. <br> <br>If additional safety equipment is required, it will be supplied by the Institute.
