In your first year, you’ll dive into various sport-related units, building foundational skills in facility maintenance, equipment management, and officiating games. You’ll gain insight into the sports industry, learning essential skills like planning, resource preparation, client engagement, and first aid. The diverse range of sports covered can be tailored to your interests, ensuring an engaging experience.<p>In the second year, the focus shifts to advanced skills, such as sports coaching, using technology in sport, group facilitation, and designing recreation programs. Along with learning how to manage risk and safety, you'll complete a scored assessment simulation that aligns with VCAA standards, preparing you for a career in sport and recreation.
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
