Tessa’s early childhood education course becomes her blueprint for career success

Holmesglen graduate Tessa Bott says the chance to inspire positive learning experiences in the next generation motivated her early childhood education career.

“I truly saw how much I could impact and teach the future generation,” says Tessa.

“We always need passionate educators who strive to challenge children and help with their learning and development.”

Tessa completed the CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and the CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.

“From the beginning, the knowledge I learned gave me an insight into what to expect and what the industry needs from educators.”

Starting as a trainee before becoming a curriculum leader in the field, Tessa is now an executive service manager at a Moorabbin early childhood centre.

What does an early childhood educator do?

In their daily roles, early childhood educators undertake a range of tasks to support children’s development and learning.

To do this, early childhood educators need to build trusting and respectful relationships with young kids, provide care and develop safe practices.

As an executive service manager, Tessa is responsible for young children's development.

“I ensure a high-quality service is consistently maintained in all areas and aspects, and that we are an inclusive environment for all children, regardless of race, abilities, beliefs, and values.

“The environment my service creates, fosters the children’s safety, security and positive relationships. I build positive, trusting, two-way relationships with the families.

“I also assist and support new employees to transition safely and effectively into their roles and help them be the best version of themselves they can be.”

Tessa’s advice for early childhood educators

“If you have the passion and drive to help educate the children of the future, begin studying early childhood to get more of an insight into how children learn and how you can make a difference in children’s lives by being the best educator you can be.”
