Home and Community Care Centre of Excellence

Located at our Moorabbin campus, our Centre of Excellence will provide critical innovation and new training opportunities.

Funded by the Australian and Victorian Governments, a new $20.67 million Home and Community Care Centre of Excellence will support the growing demand for home-based care.

With an estimated 86,000 extra care sector workers needed by 2027, the Centre of Excellence is designed to train new learners, upskill current workers, and support skill solution partnerships with industry.

Home and Community Care Centre of Excellence – An overview

A key feature of the Moorabbin campus Home and Community Care Centre of Excellence is a new smart house with adaptive technology to help workers modernise. It will include:

  • A smart house with adaptive technology for education and practical skills
  • Remote care technologies, including a virtual reality replica of the smart house
  • Professional development and applied research capability
  • Automations and modern work practices

Part of a national network of 20 other TAFE Centres of Excellence, our initiative will be a vital resource for organisations that help Australians as they age. We are a partner of the Care Economy CRC and the Construction 4.0 CRC. Our thanks to HumanAbility Ltd, plus our Centre’s regional partner South West TAFE.
