Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

We strongly recommend registering in advance to secure your place.

Entry is based on Eventbrite tickets, which will be checked at the entrance. Attendees with a valid ticket will be given priority entry.

If you arrive without a booking, you will wait outside the venue. Our staff will monitor venue capacity throughout the session and advise if additional attendees can be admitted for interviews.

Please note that entry without a ticket is not guaranteed. To avoid disappointment, we encourage you to book your preferred session before tickets are fully allocated.

If you have registered but can no longer attend, please cancel your booking through Eventbrite so your place can be offered to another job seeker. This helps ensure more people have the opportunity to attend and interview with recruiters.

The Chadstone Career Expo is open to anyone seeking employment and who is legally permitted to work in Australia. We welcome students, school leavers, graduates, career changers, and experienced job seekers as long as they are over 15 years of age.

Yes. Registration and attendance are completely free.

To create a better interview experience for both candidates and recruiters, the Chadstone Career Expo will run in two interview sessions this year.

The event schedule is:

  • Session 1: 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm
  • Venue Reset: 3:00 pm – 3:30 pm
  • Session 2: 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm

During the break, all attendees from Session 1 will leave the venue so recruiters can prepare for the next group. Attendees registered for Session 2 should arrive during this time and queue outside the venue.

Rather than trying to speak with every retailer, we encourage you to focus on the retailers you're most interested in and make the most of your interview opportunities during your chosen session.

Strictly only one session per attendee, this will be monitored.

This allows more job seekers to participate and gives everyone a fair opportunity to meet with recruiters. Please choose the session that best suits your schedule.

Yes. All employers will be accepting resumes, conducting interviews and recruiting throughout the event.

No. Participating retailers recruit for a wide range of positions across their businesses.

While customer service and sales roles are commonly available, previous expos have also featured opportunities in areas such as hospitality, operations, stock management, administration, visual merchandising and leadership positions, including management roles. Available positions will vary between retailers.

Please visit our Eventbrite page for the latest list of participating employers.

There is no set limit. You are welcome to interview with as many participating retailers as time allows during your booked session of an hour and half.

To make the most of your time, we recommend reviewing the retailer list before the event, prioritising the employers you're most interested in, and arriving prepared with multiple copies of your resume.

Please note that staff will make a final announcement when the session is ending. To ensure the event runs smoothly, all attendees from Session 1 must leave the venue between at 3:00 pm  while recruiters prepare for Session 2. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us keep the event on schedule and provide the best possible experience for everyone.

Following the Chadstone Career Expo, successful candidates will be contacted directly by the retailers they interviewed with.

Please keep an eye on your:

  • Phone calls
  • SMS messages
  • Emails

Each retailer manages its own recruitment process and will contact candidates directly.

Don't worry! At the expo, you'll find a Digital Resume Submission Wall with QR codes for participating retailers.

Simply scan the QR codes and submit your digital resume directly to the retailers you're interested in. If your skills and experience match their vacancies, they may contact you after the event to arrange an interview. Last year, several attendees who submitted their resumes at the end of the expo were contacted by retailers afterwards and successfully secured interviews and jobs.

This is a real interview opportunity, so we strongly recommend dressing in business or professional attire. First impressions count, and presenting yourself professionally can make a positive impact on recruiters.

Please note: as this event includes on-the-spot interviews and hiring, a minimum standard of dress is required for entry. Attendees in relaxed clothing such as tracksuit pants or thongs will not be admitted.

To make the most of your interview opportunities, we recommend bringing:

  • Multiple printed copies of your resume
  • A digital copy of your resume on your phone or email
  • Eventbrite ticket (QR code)
  • A water bottle to stay hydrated
  • A positive attitude and confidence!

If you've registered through Eventbrite, please cancel your registration so your place can be offered to someone else.

Yes! The Holmesglen Employment Centre will be running a one-on-one Resume and Interview Support Hub throughout the expo. Our career advisers will be available to answer your last-minute questions, review your resume, and provide practical interview tips before you meet with recruiters.

To help you prepare even earlier, we also offer a free online Retail Ready Workshop before the expo. The workshop covers resume writing, interview techniques, and tips for making a great first impression with retail recruiters.
