A $20.6 million Home and Community Care Centre of Excellence will be established at the Holmesglen Moorabbin campus, delivering advanced training capacity while uplifting digital literacy in the care sector.
The new Centre will address rising demand for home care by equipping the future healthcare workforce with hands-on skills and practical experience. Central to the development is a purpose-built Smart House featuring adaptive technologies designed to support automation and modern care delivery.
Students will gain direct exposure to remote care technologies, automation systems and modern care practices and applied research capabilities, ensuring graduates are prepared for evolving service models within the home and community care environment.
The facility is expected to become a key resource for organisations supporting older Australians to live independently and safely at home.
Jointly funded by the Australian Government and the Victorian Government, the Centre of Excellence will also facilitate industry partnerships and targeted skills solutions to meet workforce needs.
The Centre forms part of a national rollout of 16 TAFE Centres of Excellence announced across all states and territories under the Australian Government’s $325 million, five-year National Skills Agreement, which will support the establishment of up to 20 Centres nationwide.
Part of a national network of 20 other TAFE Centres of Excellence, our initiative will be a vital resource for organisations that help Australians as they age.
Holmesglen is a partner of the Care Economy CRC and the Construction 4.0 CRC and extends thanks to HumanAbility, plus the Centre’s regional partner SW TAFE.
