Studying the Certificate III in Parks and Gardens at Holmesglen

Holmesglen's qualified and experienced teachers will assist you to achieve the skills you need to advance your career in landscaping.<p>This course provides you with the necessary skills and knowledge that, when combined with workplace enhancement skills, will enable you to perform the work of a landscape gardening constructor.<p>Roles in the industry can be varied and include, construction and maintenance of domestic and commercial landscapes, or the construction and installation of amenity and recreational landscape structures.<p>You may also undertake the design of gardens and commercial landscapes, or provide technical advice and forward estimates on landscape development proposals.<p>Employers in this industry include individual landscapers, landscaping companies and public bodies, such as local councils.

Entry Requirements

<strong>To be eligible for this course, students must meet the following criteria:</strong><br>• Be at least 16 years of age.<br>• Apprenticeship enrolment: Apprentices must be signed up with an Australian Apprenticeship Network Provider. Apprentice details are then recorded in Epsilon (Government database for apprentices).<br>• Have a good level of fitness, strength, and endurance to participate in construction work and complete tasks assigned by the Trainer at Holmesglen and by their Employer.<br>• Hold a Training Agreement with a registered employer from the Landscape Construction industry.<br>• Be available to attend on-site at Holmesglen for 1 day per week over a 36-month period.<br>• Be able to meet the physical requirements of assessment, which may include operating machinery, lifting, and digging.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Assessment

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.

How to apply

Apprenticeship

Holmesglen may engage third parties to recruit students on behalf of the institute. Third party recruiters receive a commission and this will not impact on your fees.
