The MSF30822 Certificate III in Flooring Technology (Carpet and Vinyl) develops the practical skills and knowledge needed to work as a professional floor covering installer. You'll learn how to prepare flooring surfaces, measure and plan installations, install carpet and vinyl flooring, apply underlays, use flooring tools and equipment, and complete flooring installations safely and accurately.<p><p>Training is delivered through your apprenticeship and workplace experience, allowing you to develop and apply your skills in real flooring installation environments.</p>

Study the MSF30822 Certificate III in Flooring Technology (Carpet) at Holmesglen’s <a href="https://www.holmesglen.edu.au/about-us/campuses/chadstone">Chadstone campus</a>, where you'll develop your carpet installation skills through hands-on training in industry-standard flooring facilities.<p>Training combines on-campus learning with experience in your apprenticeship workplace, allowing you to apply carpet installation techniques in both training and real work environments. You'll be supported by experienced Holmesglen flooring teachers as you build confidence working with carpet, underlays, flooring surfaces and installation equipment.<p>Holmesglen has many years of experience delivering flooring technology apprenticeship training, providing a specialised learning environment where you can develop the skills and knowledge required for the flooring trade.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.<br>As this is an apprenticeship, you must have a training agreement with a registered employer from a relevant industry.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and to attend a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. The MSF30822 Certificate III in Flooring Technology is delivered over three years as part of a four-year apprenticeship contract. Training consists of 21 hours per week, delivered across a total of 26 block training sessions over three years.<p><strong>Year 1 – Flooring foundations</strong><p>Develop foundational skills in workplace safety and industry communication, while gaining an understanding of different flooring materials and basic flooring installation techniques.<p><strong>Year 2 – Carpet and vinyl installation</strong><p>Build on your first-year skills with practical training in the installation of specialised flooring types, including carpet and vinyl.<p><strong>Year 3 – Advanced flooring installation</strong><p>Develop more specialised skills in flooring design, advanced surface preparation, installation, restoration and maintenance. You'll also learn to identify and resolve common flooring installation problems, including issues related to subfloor moisture.

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.

Additional Course Cost

Students will be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when undertaking practical activities. The personal protective equipment and course materials students will be required to supply are: <br>Safety boots (steel capped, ankle height) <br>Work pants and shirt <br>Ear protection <br>Safety glasses <br>Safety gloves (when handling building materials) <br>Dust respirator to P2/P3 standard <br>Fold-out ruler Notebook, HB Pencil, blue or black pen, eraser <br>BYO Device-Laptop $400 <br>The total cost of these items is between $650 - $750 <br>If additional safety equipment is required, it will be supplied by the Institute.
